"To reach the heights, aim high!"

Dear Fenwick Family,
On Wednesday, we celebrated Ash Wednesday with an all-school Mass. In the Lenten liturgical cycle, the three main focuses are repentance, almsgiving, and prayer. As we seek to move away from the things, people, and places that take us away from God, we also can strive to be more generous to others with our time, attention, and charity, not just of the monetary type, but with a spirit of giving of ourselves through more patience, kindness, and helpfulness. We also can carve out time daily to pray and seek ways to connect with our God in our lives.
Lent is a valuable time to make choices daily that will help us grow as individuals, as well as deepen our relationship with God through acts of love, kindness and mercy.
May God bless us this Lenten season.
Yours in Service,

Ash Wednesday
On Wednesday, we had an all-school Mass to begin the Lenten season. During this time of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving we encourage students and families to reflect on ways that we can let go of things that distract from the importance of faith and our relationship with Christ. In Father’s homily, he spoke about the beauty of Ash Wednesday coinciding with Valentine’s Day. He pointed out that Valentine’s Day and Ash Wednesday are both days where we are called to acknowledge what love has done for our lives. On both days, we take time and make sacrifices to witness our love and devotion to God and to the loved ones around us. Please know of our prayers for all throughout this holy season.
Kairos
The next Kairos retreat is quickly approaching! Please keep the leadership team and the retreatants in your prayers as we prepare for the retreat. Please note that Campus Ministry needs all items for the retreat from parents of the students attending the March retreat by Tuesday, February 27!
Junior Retreat
The montage from the junior retreat has been completed. Take a look and see a snapshot from our retreat in January!
Falcon Go Days
This past Tuesday, we had our first Falcon Go Day at Bickford Senior Living. We had a wonderful turnout of students who were able to engage with the seniors at Bickford in several different activities. From nail painting to puzzles and coloring, there was something for everyone! The students enjoyed hearing the different stories told by some of the residents and sharing in the excitement of Valentine’s Day. We are looking forward to returning to Bickford to spend time with more of our new pals!

Summer Mission Trip
Join us for a Service-Learning Trip from June 1–5 in Campton, Kentucky. This trip will be full of outdoor adventure and learning! It is designed to provide students with a deeper understanding of how the dignity of the individual aligns with our call to care for creation and be responsible stewards of what we have been given. While reading excerpts of Pope Francis’ Laudato Si’, we will learn about the impact coal mining has had on the environment, the economy, and the health of the people in the Appalachian region. We will be hosted by the Catholic Church of the Good Shepherd and will be serving and learning from their community along the way. The trip is estimated to cost about $275 per student. This price includes all lodging, food, transportation, and activities. Students are encouraged to apply here. Ten students will be selected for the trip.
Optional Summer Retreat Available!
This summer, Campus Ministry hopes to bring a group of Fenwick students to the Steubenville Youth Conference on June 21-23, 2024. This is a unique opportunity for students who are seeking to know more and grow in their faith! Both Ms. Laake and Ms. Richardson attended a Steubenville Youth Conference when they were in high school and had transformative experiences. The cost per participant for the weekend would be $265, not including transportation. Please use this link and fill out the form to indicate your interest. Please reach out with any questions!
Optional Spring Retreat
Never Alone: Retreat for High Schoolers
Are you searching for the truth about who you are, what’s your purpose, and how to be happy in this life? Join your fellow high schoolers March 8-10 at St. Gertrude Parish’s L’alto: High School Spring Retreat to discover who God created you to be—instead of who the world says you should be. The retreat will be at Woodland Lakes Christian Camp & Retreat Center. Visit bit.ly/hsretreat2024 to learn more and register.

CCP Information Night
The State of Ohio has a program called College Credit Plus (CCP) that allows students to earn college credit and high school credit while still in high school. Most out-of-state colleges will refer to this as "dual enrollment." It is only called CCP in Ohio.
At Fenwick, it is typically juniors and seniors who are involved in CCP, but by state law, the CCP program is open to everyone at Fenwick. CCP courses taught at Fenwick are only open to juniors and seniors. There is an option for any student at Fenwick to take a CCP course either online or on the college campus.
The first step of learning more or participating in this program for the 2024-25 school year is to attend a mandatory informational/counseling meeting. This is a requirement set by the State of Ohio.
The remaining Informational/Counseling mandatory meeting is scheduled for Sunday, February 25 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the Fenwick Main Gym. Required sign-in will be in the main hallway. Please arrive in time to sign in and get settled in the main gym to start at 6:00 p.m. If you did not attend the earlier meeting on December 10, you must attend this meeting.
-
If the student and a parent do not attend this meeting, the student will not be permitted to participate in the CCP program. There will be no recording of the meeting.
- Please plan ahead - students should ask off work from their part-time jobs or volunteer, families should make arrangements to be able to attend this meeting.
- Parents and students will be required to sign in at the meeting and submit a signed form stating that they attended the meeting in full.
- Parents and students are required to attend even if they have participated in CCP before.
For more information, please view the FAQs.
