Culture is a unifying practice; it can be a means to understanding and enlightenment when shared. February provides multiple opportunities to experience this growth as we celebrate Black History month during this Lunar Year of the Rabbit.
Science acknowledges race is not a scientific determinative; it is a social construct designed to stratify humans – too often with negative or harmful consequences. Therefore, it is important to find the opportunity to celebrate cultural distinctions that allow us to rise above negative division and toward a more beautiful place of sharing. Felton Institute chooses to promote this cultural appreciation and mutual respect. Visible in the work we do, the communities we serve, and our Felton family of service providers is the underlying respect and appreciation of cultural diversity.
So, in this Year of the Rabbit, as we celebrate Black History Month and the Africana culture of the diaspora, I invite you to find your opportunity to explore art, literature, music, cuisine, and other cultural traditions in celebration with us!
