Weekly News & Updates

February 16, 2024

What a great Sunday! The energy was palpable in the most wonderful of ways - worship was rich as we celebrated Transfiguration Sunday. The light followed everyone into the Fellowship Hall for the Chili and Dessert Cookoff! It was a great day - thank you to the Church Life Ministry Team for their efforts in putting it all together and to each of you that brought food for sharing. Can't wait to see what next year has in store!

Last night, some of us gathered in the Sanctuary to mark the start of the Lenten Season with our Ash Wednesday service. I continue to be blown away by the ways that the Holy Spirit is at work in those services; while there may be fewer people, that doesn't change its impact.

I look forward to this Sunday when we will continue our Lenten sermon series called Wandering Heart, which was produced by a great ministry called A Sanctified Art. Providing a framework for our 40-day journey, we will walk with the Apostle Peter while using phrases from the hymn, Come Thou Fount. More of the devotionals and daily prayer cards are available in the Dogwood Lobby for those who are seeking them - if you are out-of-town and unable to pick one up on your own, please email me and I'm happy to get one in the mail for you.

Following the service, the congregation and the corporation will present its Annual Congregational Meeting. We have some wonderful plans being made that I look forward to sharing, as well as giving you the great news of our financial picture from the end of last year and looking into this year.

Please be sure to read the information below about the upcoming Wednesday Wisdom and Saturday Something.

I look forward to seeing you Sunday, if not before!

With joy and gratitude,

Pastor Kathryn

Wandering Heart: A Lenten Journey

The Lenten Journey began earlier this week and continues this Sunday with the theme Wandering Heart - a series that follows the Apostle Peter as he navigates his walk with Christ. Using weekly themes from the hymn Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing", we also will be able to examine our walk with Christ with images and poetry created by A Sanctified Art. Hope to see you Sunday in worship, whether in-person or online.
