Hello Michael,
Anyone watch Bobby Flay? Well the Fefinanes line is what he enjoys at home and rightfully so. Because of this wine's popularity in Spain, the majority of it is kept and consumed in Spain. Each and every year their Albarino is ranked either number 1 or number two in all of Spain. Which is great except for the fact they try to keep it all!
This wine is aged in stainless steel tanks on the lees. This extended aging gives the juice the fullest extraction possible resulting in complex and firm structure on the palate. This is no light weight white wine. This is what I refer to as the red wine drinker's white.
Review:
This rare style of lees-aged Albariño is only made in great years. III Año shows all the expressiveness of the Albariño grape, with a full nose of lemon, apple, exotic fruit, mineral character & hint of dried herbs. Complex and meaty with firm structure in the mouth, it promises a splendid evolution which will favor a long life for this elegant wine with personality. The palate's rich and thick with crisp acidity with citrus (lemon/grapefruit), apple and mango. Excellent length and a pleasant, refreshing finish.
