On April 14, the Jewish community marked Good Deeds Day by spreading kindness. Doing good on this day included dropping off food donations for the Calgary Food Bank to supporting Wynne Thal's Pantry at JFCS. As we kick off our Chametz Drive from April 15 to 19, let's continue this spirit of giving by clearing out our pantries for Passover and making a difference in the lives of others. Remember, you can drop off your unopened chametz or any other non-perishable food items at the Paperny Family JCC throughout this week.

PJ Our Way® hosted a Matzah Mayhem on April 14 led by Registered Dietician Melanie Ksienski, where participants got hands-on with matzah-based dinner and dessert preparations. This engaging activity brought together kids from grades 4, 5, and 6 at the Paperny Family JCC to celebrate Passover, which begins on Monday, April 22. From matzah making to enjoying the delicious creations, it was a fun-filled gathering that added a special touch to the upcoming holiday festivities.

Earlier in the day, families gathered for Passover Frogs & Fun, an exciting event hosted by PJ Library® Calgary. Combining the essence of Passover (Pesach) with the curiosity of reptiles, an "unFROGgetable adventure" was had for all! Thank you Calgary Reptile Parties and our own Sydney Truax, PJ Library and Family Engagement Coordinator for a successful event.

The Passover fun doesn't stop! Join us for Movie and Matzah! Wear your comfiest pajamas and enjoy The Prince of Egypt with delicious Pesach-approved snacks on Sunday, April 28 from 2:00 to 400pm at the Paperny Family JCC. This is a free program for families with children ages 5 to 13. Don't miss out, please register here.

Calgary Jewish Federation is non-partisan and values the diversity of our community, including politics. With the Alberta NDP Leadership Race underway, it's crucial we understand where candidates stand on issues impacting us directly. We've engaged with candidates to provide up-to-date information on their positions and requested pre-recorded video answers addressing key questions. Watch the video now.

We encourage those who are passionate about having a voice in the leadership of our province to consider, if so inspired, to become Alberta NDP members by registering and donating a minimum of $10 on or BEFORE the cutoff date of April 22, 2024.
