February 2012

Greetings!
February is for lovers...but it's not only a month to celebrate your special someone!  It's also a month to celebrate books, African-American history and more!  Read on to learn how to celebrate February in Egleston!

And don't miss important information about meetings and events happening in your neighborhood!
February is for...

African American History Lovers!
Celebrate the rich history of African Americans in Boston this month!  There are a number of great events you won't want to miss!
National Center for Afro American artists
Check out Discover Roxbury for great black history tours.  Visit the National Center for Afro-American Artists right in our neighborhood and take advantage of other great events happening in Boston!

Heart Lovers!
February is American Heart Month, to promote awareness about heart disease.  Be sure to stock up on healthy food at Plaza Meat Market, Star Fish (fresh fish!) or another local store.  Take a walk around Franklin Park or around the district.  Visit your local community health center for screenings!

Library Lovers...Books!
February is Library Lovers month!  Egleston Square residents, merchants and friends worked to save the Egleston Square library and we're SO glad they did!  Celebrate the library checking out the great programs they have, and of course, checking out some books...perhaps on African American history?!

And Egleston Square Lovers...
Discover Roxbury is conducting a survey of the best "places and spaces in and around Roxbury for chance encounters and the good ol' fashioned date."  Take the survey here! (And be sure to vote for Egleston's great spots!).
