LEARN YOUR SOLFEGE SYLLABLES!
If I had to choose the one practice element that has benefited my study of music most I would choose learning the solfege syllables and incorporating them into my daily practice. Learning to play and sing the solfege syllables will greatly improve your powers of relative pitch identification. Start with ascending and descending the C major scale in the first position. Once you've got your fingers and ears around that, add the C chromatic scale into your routine. Implanting the solfege in your mind's ear will not happen by next Wednesday, but with daily practice, one day you'll hear the results of your efforts! For a link to an article I wrote for Ukulele on the solfege click HERE.

SANTA FE WORKSHOPS
I'll be presenting two workshops at one of the country's premiere music stores, The Candyman Strings & Things in Santa Fe, New Mexico on February 23. You can reserve your spot HERE.
NEW MEXICO UKULELE WEEKEND!
Tickets are now on sale for the
New Mexico Ukulele Weekend.
Del Rey and I will be presenting one-day mini-camps in Albuquerque on May 4 and Santa Fe May 5, 2019. Each day will consist of multiple workshops, play-along sessions and a concert. Come for the weekend and experience what north central New Mexico has to offer; the Sandia Peak Tram, Rio Grande River, old town plazas in both cities, great New Mexican food, and the excitement of being a mile above sea level. WORLD'S BEST CHORD CHARTS!
Glowfly Press produces what I think are the world's best ukulele chord charts. There are three charts to choose from-
Map of Major Keys, Map of Minor Keys, and 144 Chord Chart. No more using clothes pins to hold open your chord book. These sturdy, laminated charts stand on their own! Other great features include chords to every major and minor key, chord progression builder, famous song progressions and more. You can order your nifty new chord charts

TAKE A TOUR OF MY WEBSITE
I've produced a three-minute video tour of my website.
Watch the video and see the wealth of FREE content offered. I began my online ukulele presence almost ten years ago so you won't run out of things to learn anytime soon.

FROM THE MAILBAG
" Hi Jim,
I just got the last of your video series.
I worked on some of the songs and I
made myself try to remember the chords by number, no writing them down. The repetition of using the key of C and G was good. I had a lot of fun.
I am going to keep at it so I can develop more of an ear for what is happening in the song.
"

Thanks,
Nancy
