Exciting developments lie ahead – stay connected for more updates!

A huge congratulations to Stephanie V. Daniels on her recent swearing-in as the Director of the Miami-Dade Police Department. This significant achievement marks a historic moment, as Daniels becomes the first woman to lead one of the largest law enforcement agencies in the United States. Her appointment not only represents a milestone for gender equality in leadership roles but also speaks volumes about her competence and dedication to the community. We extend our best wishes to Director Stephanie V. Daniels and look forward to witnessing the continuing positive impact she will undoubtedly have on the Miami-Dade Police Department.

Mayor Jose ‘Pepe’ Diaz had a wonderful time attending the New Year Community Leaders Reception at the U.S. Southern Command, hosted by General Laura Richardson. We will continue to support our fellow military operations who protect our great nation. As a Marine, Mayor Diaz also extends his heartfelt gratitude to General Laura J. Richardson and her United States Southern Command team for hosting a great unifying event to welcome the new year.

During January's commission meeting, we recognized the outstanding contributions of our Employees of the Month from various departments. Their dedication and hard work are the driving force behind the seamless operations of our city. Thank you!

Our seniors from the Mildred and Pepper Claude Senior Center explored art and history at the Lowe’s Art Museum as part of their field trip day! The museum is located in the heart of the University of Miami campus and opened in 1952 as the first museum in South Florida. Be sure to check out our monthly newsletters and our social media pages for up-to-date senior center events.

Our very own Mayor Jose “Pepe” Diaz met with our senators and congress members in Washington, D.C. They discussed future appropriations, earmarks, and grants for the City of Sweetwater. We look forward to the great things that will flourish from their various meetings.

Mayor Jose “Pepe” Diaz was honored with the opportunity to throw the first pitch for 'Fepcube,' the Cuban Professional Baseball Team's 'Dream Team.'
