Mansfield Middle School Tutoring is excited to welcome volunteers back to in-person volunteering, which began on Monday, February 14! Recruitment is currently closed, but students interested in future openings are able to reach out to uconn.co.mms@gmail.com with their contact information.

America Reads

America Reads began volunteering once again starting the week of 2/21! Here is the tutoring we are offering this semester:

In-person tutoring (we provide transportation):

Willington Elementary: Tuesday, 1-3pm

Kinsella Elementary: Friday, 12:15-3pm

Kinsella High School: Friday, 8:05-10:30am

Virtual synchronous tutoring:

Monday through Friday, 1-hour blocks between 9:50am - 1:55pm

We will also have a virtual asynchronous option, in which volunteers will complete biweekly book modules consisting of a read-aloud recording and activity worksheet on their own time with the assistance of another volunteer.

Jumpstart

Jumpstart is back! All teams are back in session, and we've been getting ready to welcome our two new staff members. Our monthly AllCorps took place on February 25th. It's exciting to finally have our Jumpstart cohort together. Jumpstart would like to thank all of its members for being so committed to the program.

Alternative Breaks

Currently, all alternative break programs are getting ready for their alternative breaks to begin over spring break! All programs have started their educational meetings, and they have all been going well. So much work goes into an alternative break, so we're all looking forward to seeing it come together in the next couple of weeks.

Youth Development & Education for Adolescents (YDEA)

YDEA's programs are all back and getting started very soon. Our CoPs take place on Sundays from 6-7pm. Thank you to all our program directors for being committed to the program and working hard to get volunteers and participants into schools. We are so excited to tutor and mentor students and begin our programs!

Community Service Days

CSD is excited to announce that we are starting to schedule our Community Service Days beginning the first weekend in March! Our events will occur on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays again this semester.
