We Are Thankful for You!

Our annual 29 Days of Thanks campaign is focused on celebrating and appreciating the individuals, families, groups, and organizations who support Heart of Missouri United Way and make the work we do possible.

Our community support means the world to us. 97% of our revenue comes from community donations, which means local needs are met by local donations. There are also over 10,000 hours volunteered annually by community members through Heart of Missouri United Way. This helps us make real, sustainable change in our community and promotes positive outcomes in the areas of health and basic needs, education, and financial stability.

From our "Heart" to yours, we sincerely thank you for your support of Heart of Missouri United Way!

CoMo Give 5, Sign Up Today!

Watch the video below to see how Give 5 is changing lives.

Give 5 is an innovative, community-based program designed for Columbia and Boone County residents. The program provides a way for retirees and seniors to apply their talents and passions to our community’s primary areas of need. By doing so, it also ensures they continue to have purpose and relevance in their lives.

This program offers a fun, social opportunity for participants to experience a “taste-testing” of the many and varied volunteer opportunities within our community. At the end of the program, it’s hoped participants will commit – at least short term – to “give five” hours a month to one of the program nonprofits.

Does that sound like fun? Sign up for the next Cohort today!

Agency Spotlight: Heart of Missouri CASA

MISSION: To train and support volunteers to be exceptional voices for every abused and neglected child in the Boone and Callaway County Family Courts.

VISION: For every child who needs them, Heart of Missouri CASA envisions a trained volunteer advocate, a safe home, and a promising future where each child can reach their full potential.

Heart of Missouri CASA has a Child Advocacy program funded through our Health and Basic Needs Impact Investment.

A CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) speaks up for children in the 13th Judicial Circuit Court system who’ve been abused or neglected by educating and empowering diverse community volunteers to advocate for them in the court system.

The program goals are to improve outcomes for every child in need through best interest advocacy. They aim to ensure children remain free from re-abuse while in foster care, have all their needs met (educational, medical, therapeutic), and achieve a safe, permanent home as quickly as possible.

Volunteer with Heart of Missouri CASA

CASA volunteers are assigned to an abuse or neglect case by judges. Each volunteer is carefully screened, trained, and supervised. Volunteers conduct thorough research on the background of the case, reviewing documents, and interviewing everyone involved, including the child.
