One day, when I returned to my office after attending a business luncheon, I discovered an email from an acquaintance with the subject, "You left your umbrella". It was an overcast day, but not raining, so it wouldn't have surprised me to discover that I had left my umbrella at the business function. Upon opening the email I was greeted by an extremely graphic photo of something that clearly wasn't an umbrella. Not only that, it didn't originate from the acquaintance (at least I don't think/hope it didn't).  What did I do?  

Maryland Healthy Working Families Act

Legislation has once again been proposed in Maryland State Legislature that would require employers to provide paid sick leave.   The current Act , as written, would require companies with more than nine (9) employees to provide those employees with earned sick leave paid at the same rate the employee normally earns his/her pay. 

EEOC Proposed Changes to Employer Information Report (EEO-1)

In January, The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) made public a proposed revision to the Employer Information Report (EEO-1) to include collecting pay data from employers, including federal contractors, with more than 100 employees. The agency states that the new data will assist them in identifying possible pay discrimination and assist employers in promoting equal pay in their workplaces.
