Good morning FHF school reps,

Here is the link to this month's meeting.  We had a great group discussion and our next step is to follow up with ACPS Parent Council leaders to further discuss and brainstorm potential community conversations. Updates to come!

As always, if you have any ideas, questions or feedback, please don't be shy in sharing!!! This is a 100% volunteer-led effort & all voices are valued!

Meeting Summary

Focus this month:

As we mentioned before this month's meeting, we'd like to explore hosting (and funding) a series of public conversations about Racial Awareness, led by the Counseling Alliance of Virginia’s (CAVA) Executive Director, Gene Cash.

FHF believes we should have common knowledge and understanding of what the ACPS Anti-racism policy would look like as we continue to do our work to end barriers; meeting needs of families to close achievement gaps. Families Helping Families is committed to being part of the solution; bringing awareness and doing our part to ensure diversity, equity and inclusion is at the core of our service.

We have learned there are parts of our school community that have picked up the torch and have started these conversations and/or applying actionable steps to make space for marginalized - black and brown voices.

Even if you couldn't attend the meeting this month, we would love to hear from you!
