Welcome OKCAPMAP Providers!

Greetings!

There are so many occasions throughout February for us to spread love and share in celebration! We celebrate Black History Month and Valentine's Day in February, but did you also know it's National Library Lover's Month and North American Inclusion Month? Let's take this month to celebrate and love our differences.

Read below to learn more and register for the 2nd Annual Bridging the Gap in Pediatric Mental Health Care conference! Providers, please take a moment to read what Christina shares on Teen Dating Violence Awareness and National Eating Disorder Awareness Week and check out the resources shared. While you are celebrating love this month, be sure to love yourself; read what Amanda shares about the Link Between Gratitude and Wellness.

Please join us for the upcoming March Lunch and Learn to gain skills in Motivational Interviewing (MI) and how MI can enhance your interactions with pediatric patients and their families.

We are grateful for your service and would love for you to join us in the great things OKCAPMAP has planned this year!

There are two mental health events happening in February!

Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month

Dating violence can affect anyone, including teenagers. Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month is an event dedicated to raising awareness for, preventing, and understanding the impacts of dating violence among teens.

National Eating Disorders Awareness Week

Eating disorders affect over 21 million Americans and are often prevalent in minority groups like the LGBTQIA+ population and BIPOC communities. National Eating Disorders Awareness Week, beginning February 26th, is an annual event meant to raise awareness for eating disorder prevention and provide messages of hope. In order to better recognize, support and effectively treat eating disorders, public awareness is key.

Link Between Gratitude and Wellness

Research has found these positive outcomes are linked between gratitude and wellbeing:

  • Positive relationships (Wood et al., 2010)
  • Higher life satisfaction (Wood et al., 2010)
  • More optimistic & happiness, joy & pleasure (various studies)
  • Higher level of positive emotions (Emmons, 2010)
  • Early indication of physical health benefits!

Practice Gratitude by 1) Keeping a Gratitude Journal, 2) Taking a Gratitude Walk, or 3) Using Gratitude Affirmations.

Robert Emmons, PhD, Professor of Psychology at UC Berkley, leading scientific expert in the study of Gratitude. Check out his TED Talks on Gratitude, The Benefits of Gratitude.

Bridging the gap in pediatric mental healthcare.

Your copy should address 3 key questions: Who am I writing for (audience)? Why should they care (benefit)? What do I want them to do (call-to-action)?

Create a great offer by adding words like "free," "personalized," "complimentary," or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take action, so consider inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining!"
