Hi all,
Happy February! According to the groundhog's shadow, we are supposed to see an early spring. We shall see, but we know for sure that the calendar says spring begins with the vernal equinox on March 19. In the meantime, let's enjoy the second half of this winter season.
If we do have a substantial snowfall and you find yourself out shoveling, you can avoid having to see me by shoveling in a "back friendly" way. Not too much snow on the shovel, and try to push it rather than lift it. Bend your knees and then straighten them to lift the shovel instead of bending at the waist and overloading your lower back. Keep your back fairly straight and upright as you lift. Also, try to avoid hard twisting and throwing the snow a long way. Better to take a few steps to turn yourself, and then walk the snow over to where you want to put it. And, take a break every few minutes and give your back a rest. Being a little self-aware in this way should keep you out of trouble. But if trouble does find you, give a call and I will help!
Hope you have a Happy Valentine's Day, and stay happy and healthy!
Best wishes,
Dr Dave
