ARTIST: Tonja Smith, Drawings, Acrylic And Oil Paintings
ABOUT THE ARTIST TONJA SMITH
Tonja Smith was born and continues to live in Morganton, North Carolina with her husband Wayne, Bleecker
the shepherd and a rescue cat named Ziggy Stardust. She has two grown children, Emily and Eli. As a visual artist,
Tonja focuses on covering canvases with acrylics or oils as she creates narrative impressionistic realism paintings
and drawing realistic pencil portraits. Most of Tonja’s art is interpretations of photographs she has made. You
can often spot her black shepherd in her paintings. Tonja believes life is full of excitement and adventure and we
should make the most of every day. She also works as Medical Laboratory Technician in a pediatric office.
Tonja and her daughter Emily co authored a children's book, The Painted Series, The Adventures of Bailey, Bleecker,
and Banjo, Linville Gorge. The book was also illustrated by Tonja. Their book was published in the summer of 2021.
Tonja’s second book I Believe I Can was published in October 2022.
Tonja welcomes commissions and works from photographs.

The gallery is part of the Play It Again Records Building.
The two large gallery windows are lit 24 hrs. a day and can be seen from the curb!
