This is both our Valentine's Edition of the Cheshire AVator as well as the first in the series celebrating our 30 years in business. We want you to know how much we love and appreciate our clients, partners and friends with whom we've had relationships these past 30 years. So our first article is a tribute to our dad, Steve Cheshire, who founded Cheshire AV in 1994.

Next, you'll hear from Roseann Denoncourt, Co-Owner of IN Trade Shows & Events, and one of our valued partners, as she talks about the evolution of the relationship between our two companies, and why it has remained constant for the past 25 years.

We also throw an employee spotlight on Tim Peterson, to congratulate him on his promotion, and on all our staff who we see as our Superhero Team that contributes every day to the success of Cheshire AV.

Finally, you may remember that a few years back, we published a "Unique Events Guide" for the Greater Rochester Region. The 2024 version is back and updated with lots of distinctive and exciting facilities.

So, we wish you a Happy Valentine's Day, and remind you that If we can be of assistance in planning your next event, simply get in touch with me at Justin@CheshireAV.com, or call (585) 325-4250.

Please join us in celebrating our 30th Anniversary

A Tribute to Steve Cheshire

It was 1994 when our dad, Steve Cheshire, left Kodak and launched Cheshire AV, with the loving and ongoing support of our mom, Joanne Cheshire.

One of dad's great joys was designing shows from the ground up and making sure everything worked smoothly. He'd be the first to comment on how the AV field has changed since then, in terms of both technology and industry practices.

Steve turned over the reins to his sons, Jamie and Justin a number of years ago, and they salute him! They are always grateful for the opportunity he has provided to them. Both Jamie and Justin have funny stories of how he taught them the trade "from the ground up "(or perhaps we should say, "from the grounds up," since Justin's first task on his very show was to open the case with the one most vital piece of equipment--the coffee pot--set it up, and make sure it was working and held fresh coffee all day!

Both Jamie and Justin also appreciate that Steve instilled in them a commitment to hard work, and dedication to customer service and building relationships, which puts Cheshire ahead of the competition to this day. We're hoping to catch up with Steve later this year, to hear a few of his "on the road" stories.

IN Trade Shows & Events: Values of Partnership

Roseann Denoncourt, Co-Owner of IN Trade Shows & Events, has worked with Cheshire AV since not long after the launch of Cheshire AV.

“I first started working with Cheshire around 25 years ago in the early years of my tradeshow career, confided Roseann.

In 2012, she began working with Al Mahar, President and Owner of his printing company, ImageNow, founded in 1969. After working together for some time, they decided to start a new business together, and IN Tradeshows and Events was launched in 2014.

Roseann went on to say that ImageNow and In Trade Shows & Events work “side-by-side,” and that one of the benefits of that partnership is that clients are able to have high quality print collateral created and shipped along with their exhibit booth, saving the need for multiple suppliers. Roseann is proud to share that IN Trade Shows & Events is celebrating its 10th Anniversary this year.

When asked about her experience of working with Cheshire AV on such trade shows as the one above for which the two companies collaborated on the Paymentus booth, she responded, “Since I first began working with them, I’ve never worked with anyone else."

Cheshire Employee Spotlight

Tim Peterson Promoted to Director of Technology

During any show on which Tim has worked since starting at Cheshire AV, his passion for technology comes through.

As a child, Tim enjoyed tinkering with pipes, wires and, yes, even Tinkertoys. By the time he was ten years old, Tim’s dad started introducing him to the wonders of electronics and computer programming. Using books and the internet as references, Tim became a self-taught whiz, and ended up pursuing a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from RIT.

During that time, he began working on various live events and discovered he much preferred taking a hands-on approach to technology rather than sitting behind a desk writing software. This caused him to turn down an invitation to join a Ph.D. program, and pursue his love of all things AV.

He got his “feet wet” in the industry by working in theaters and freelancing for Cheshire and other AV companies for a few years before joining Cheshire full-time.

Meet Cheshire's Superhero Team

As we've expanded our Team and updated our website, we've included a profile of each employee, along with a brief bio.

We think of our team members as Superheroes, and we often hear that from clients, so when we asked each employee, "If you were a Superhero, who would you be?" we got some fun and enthusiastic responses, especially since many of them are Superhero movie or comic book fans. Some identified with actual Superhero figures, and others invented their own characters.

We worked with an overseas Superhero Cartoon Artist named Bilal, and as you can see, he had fun bringing everyone's character to life!

Below we show our Superhero Team! To discover what they had to say about their Superhero persona and why they chose that character, visit the Our Team section on our website, then click on the More button beneath each person's name.

The Cheshire Unique Venues Guide Is Baaaack!

A few years back, we developed a "Unique Venues Guide" to help those in the industry looking for non-traditional event facilities in which to hold their conferences, trade shows and special events around greater Rochester.

As you can imagine, there have been a lot of changes since the last time we put this out, so CLICK HERE for the new, updated 2024 issue.

If you know of a unique venue not listed here that can accommodate one of the types of functions listed above, please send the name and business website address to Carol@CommuniVisionStudio.com.

Enjoy, and we hope you find this useful!
