Hello February,
First I wanted to say what a great meeting in January at our new home St. Matthews Church. The turnout was amazing and Sam Swieszcz of A Memory Quilt Co gave a great and very informative speech plus her Bookshelf Quilt class was a blast. Valentines Day is right around the corner and the quilting retreats for the year have begun. As you might know, a lot of our members just got back from the HQH annual retreat and it really got some of us wondering if Madison Station should partake in one. If you would be interested, please let one of us know if this is a priority to you and we can see what we can arrange.
The speakers for this month are Aunt Henri. They are the project makers for designer Janet Wecker Frisch of Riley Blake Fabrics. Jesse and Victoria are great people and fun to talk too. I am sure we will enjoy their view from their creative side.
This month we will vote on the budget and get all of that fun stuff out of the way which moves us forward to March which is the Mystery Challenge presented by Susan Yell and Leigh Ann Hubbard. It sounds like it will be fun and entertaining. April is being planned as we speak. May, our speaker is our very own Diane Loehr on Sashiko, The art of Japanese quilting. June will be a yard sale. July is a round robin. September is Patricia Morgan on English Paper Piecing. October is Patty Murphy of ATL. November is the Challenge presentation and December, the Christmas party. Check the website on Friday to see all the updates.
And lets not forget that Quilt Con is the end of February in Atlanta. I know I will be there and I hope to see you too.
Don’t forget your charity quilt tops, quilts and pillow cases to be given to Lorna and get online or bring a check to the meeting to pay your dues if you haven’t already.
Thanks everyone and I will see you on February 9th, 6:00pm at St. Matthews church on Hughes
