We hope you and your family are well since we last corresponded in the final days of 2020. What a time ago that seems!

When we celebrated Sarah’s 23rd birthday with you this past December, we shared a few exciting updates on Sarah’s Village. As we cruise through Q1 of 2021, we wanted to share a brief update on the Village’s accomplishments thus far and what’s to come.

Sarah’s Village Foundation remains on track for its approval to be an IRS approved 501(c)(3) organization by June. Its mission, "Be kind and help others by promoting "Total Wellness" and eliminating the "stigma" associated with mental illness while reducing the rate of suicide of 13 to 24 year old people in our communities across Massachusetts and the USA.", aims to P.E.R.: Promote Wellness, Eliminate the Stigma, and Reduce the Rate.

We’ve engaged with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), Bring Change to Mind, RADical Hope Foundation and The JED Foundation about the resources they have available to help schools. We’ve met with Vinny Cerce from Norton Public Schools and he’s excited about collaborating together on behalf of the middle and high schools. Next we will reach out to Easton public schools and UMass Amherst.

One of the many reasons we created Sarah’s Village Foundation was so we could direct the generous donations you make (over $100K total the last 4 years - thank you!!) and put 100% back into the community. We intend to hold one main fundraiser a year, so we can talk more about impact and less about asking for your money. We’re planning our fundraiser for May/June with more details to follow.

Just as in years past, we look forward to joining our friends at the AFSP Easton, MA Walk on 9/25/21, which is a day of community support and healing. Should you get an email from AFSP, we encourage you to join our team, but leave the donations up to us. We plan to take a portion of the donations from our fundraiser in May/June and make one big donation on behalf of Sarah’s Village.

As we embark on the journey to P.E.R., we hope you’ll join us in the conversation. We appreciate any feedback (positive, constructive or unsubscribe - we can handle the truth) via response to this email. Sarah’s Village Foundation is also active on social media. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram to help spread the word!

In the months to come, we’ll be in touch with more exciting updates and ways in which you can non-monetarily and monetarily support SVF’s mission. In the meantime, please continue to be kind and help others. We couldn’t do this without you!
