You won't want to miss this special event with the "Unveiling of the 50th Anniversary Guide.
There will
be a buffet with items such as ham biscuits, veggie tray, potato salad, coleslaw, meatballs, turkey and bacon rolls, pimento cheese sandwiches, cucumber salad, banana pudding and key lime tarts.

FREE Marketing Opportunity for you, Feb. 26, 27, 28 at the Southwest Virginia Boat Show!
Looking for more business during winter and early spring? The SML Chamber will be at the Southwest Virginia Boat Show February 26, 27, & 28 at the Roanoke Civic Center, and we want to help you by distributing your business information with other SML businesses. Bring to the SML Visitor Center your coupons, flyers or small advertising specialties (i.e. key chains, pens, etc.). We'll bag and distribute them at the Boat Show, FREE of charge. Please no large specialty items. Minimum quantity: 500.
The deadline to bring your items is February 19!
Also, volunteers will be needed to help us bag the items, and work the booth at the Boat Show.

Mishelle Brosinski, Laker Magazine, presented the Smith Mountain Lake Regional Chamber of Commerce with 3 Awards for "Best Club or Organization"(GOLD), "Best Annual Community Event"-Pirate Days(SILVER) and "
Best Annual Community Event"-SML Wine Festival. The SML Chamber is honored to have received these awards.

SML "Full Pond Day" Ceremony - March 7
We invite you to join us for "Full Pond Day" on March 7, 2016 as we celebrate Smith Mountain Lake's 50-year anniversary. The event takes place from 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Smith Mountain Lake State Park, Discovery Center, 1235 State Park Rd., Huddleston and will feature a dedication/unveiling ceremony for three new Virginia historical highway markers located in Bedford, Franklin and Pittsylvania counties. The markers document the establishment of Smith Mountain Lake back in 1966 and recognize its economic significance to Southwest Virginia.
Additionally, Virginia General Assembly H.J. Res. 36, which commends SML on its Golden Anniversary, will be presented. Moreover, we will announce an SML 50th Anniversary Essay Contest for students in the three lake-area counties as well as the winner of the 50th Anniversary Quilt Raffle.
Following the ceremony and photo opp, refreshments will be served and local musician Jerry Hale will entertain.

50th Anniversary Merchandise Display
As we kick-off the New Year, the 50th Anniversary of Smith Mountain Lake is officially here! In the spirit of the celebration, numerous local retailers are offering 50th branded merchandise, including shirts, ball caps, coffee mugs, hand-painted plates, wine glasses, commemorative coins, and stickers, to name a few. With that in mind, we are planning a special 50th Anniversary display at the SML Visitors Center. If you have 50th Anniversary branded products that you would like to promote in the display case, please loan us one of each item to be displayed. We will provide signage indicating where the product may be purchased.
