Here are some of the stories we are following this week. Connect with us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for up-to-the-minute news.
-
Remember President Barack Obama’s “Life of Julia” plan, where the government will take care of you from cradle to grave? Well, Jared Polis likes this idea almost as much as he likes California policies, and wants to centrally manage where you live, how you live, and how you travel.
-
Colorado State Representative Scott Bottoms has filed a lawsuit over the $182 million raiding of TABOR during the November special session. We wish him luck.
-
The grift known as the Denver Homeless Industrial Complex continues. The city is now housing 1,000 at a cost to taxpayers of $45 million.
-
Also in Homeless Industrial Complex news, of the 168 vagrants moved from outdoor camps to hotels, only 2 have been placed into housing. Seems inefficient, if efficiency is actually the goal. If grift is the goal, then it’s a gold-medal policy. Denver has now taken in more illegal immigrants than any city in the country.
-
Twenty more buses of illegal aliens have arrived in the sanctuary city of Denver. Virtue signaling by politicians has a cost, and Denver taxpayers will be paying for it. Denver expects to spend $180 million in taxpayer dollars in 2024 dealing with migrants.
-
With a new year comes a ton of new laws. Get ready for plastic bags to be banned entirely, and also expect a price hike on your purchases, as businesses will now have to pay for another minimum wage hike.
-
The cost of the plastic bag and Styrofoam container ban will be borne by you, the customer. Paper containers for take-out food cost more than Styrofoam, but the politicians get to pat themselves on the back for how great they are, and that’s the important thing.
-
Marijuana has been legal in Colorado for ten years now. What has been the impact of this decision, and where has the tax money collected gone?
-
Since psychedelic mushrooms are now legal in Colorado, there, of course, needs to be a host of taxpayer-funded bureaucrats and regulators to manage this. If you’ve ever wanted to be a psychedelic mushroom bureaucrat, now is your chance.
-
New certified victim group update. The Colorado legislature will be pursuing new laws to protect fat people from being victimized by society. Because things just aren’t stupid enough yet.
-
All of this government ridiculousness has voters feeling pessimistic about the future of Colorado.
-
Colorado Springs Utilities continues to use your ratepayer dollars to pay for other peoples' kids to play rec sports for "free". While we think youth sports is worthwhile, should ratepayers be footing the bill?
-
If you would like to help support us in our mission as government watchdogs by becoming a Newsletter Sponsor, we are offering two sponsorships for each weekly newsletter, at the nominal cost of $100 each. Funds raised from these sponsorship opportunities will help us to keep looking out for taxpayers.
Here are some upcoming meetings in the area. We hope you can attend one or more! If there are other public meetings you’d like to see announced here, please drop us a line. We are happy to include them in an upcoming newsletter. These might be government-related, candidate, or elected official meetings. Thanks!

Don't forget to subscribe to our YouTube Channel. Since most of the City and County board and commission meetings are not televised or recorded, we are trying to remedy that. We now have a camera and tripod for volunteers to check out for future meetings.
If you have a tip about a story in the Pikes Peak region that you aren’t seeing reported, let us know. We will see what we can find out.
