Welcome to TABLE Thymes where we share news about our programs, partnerships, community happenings, volunteer opportunities, and more. We hope you enjoy learning what goes on in our home on East Main St. to bring healthy, fresh food to kids in our community!

“My daughter and I made a homemade apple pie with apples provided by TABLE. It was definitely a great memory maker.”

Family Time at Belle Vie Farm

We had so much fun at Belle Vie Farm a few weeks ago, where TABLE hosted a morning on the farm for our children and their families. We enjoyed Belle Vie’s beautiful property, including time feeding the animals and a scavenger hunt! Several of our friends from UNC football also stopped by and spent time with the kids 😀

Announcing CSA for ALL!

We are excited to share that through a collaboration with Farmer Foodshare; we will be offering families on our waitlist the opportunity to participate in their CSA for ALL program. Families will receive fresh, locally sourced food every week for 13 weeks this summer. And anyone can join the CSA for ALL program!

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT

Denali Dahl

Denali has been a TABLE volunteer since 2020. She started delivering food during COVID when we transitioned to home deliveries. She has led food sorting shifts and is now co-leading our kids' shifts. She is a key member of our TABLE family and brings so much joy, creativity, and enthusiasm to each volunteer shift!

"TABLE has become a core part of my life. Leading the kid's shift is especially fun because they are so excited to volunteer and love coming every week, and I love that it's a chance to inspire thoughtful community engagement at any age."

How Food Can Affect Our Children’s Mental and Emotional Health?

In our latest blog, Dasha, a Nurse Case Manager who specializes in population health, provides some insight into how food can positively and negatively impact our children's overall health, not just their physical health.

“A healthy meal choice is more complicated than choosing to eat more produce or fewer processed foods. One TABLE parent told us that because she has such a limited budget, she only buys foods she knows her children will eat.”

Part-Time Neighborhood Ambassador

Join our team as a part-time neighborhood ambassador! We are looking for someone who can start as soon as possible for at least 6 months as we pilot this initiative. These individuals will work in teams to develop relationships with participating families by serving as the neighborhood’s point of contact for TABLE programming. Note: Neighborhood Ambassadors should already be participating in a TABLE program.

TABLE needs your plastic grocery bags!

Did you know we double bag the food we deliver to children? That means on average we use 1,600 bag every week. Please consider donating your gently used plastic grocery bags. Drop them off during office hours or in the box out back.
