Dear Members of the Holy Family University Community:

It is with heavy hearts that we must say farewell to Father James Mac New, OSFS, director of Campus Ministry. Father Mac New will be receiving a change of ministry from his Provincial Superior. For the past 15 years, "Father Mac," as he has become known to the Holy Family University community, has faithfully served the University. From retreats to Bear Mountain, service projects to support the Blessed Sarnelli Community in Philadelphia, his blog chronicling his journey on The Way of St. James, and countless other forms of service.

While serving as director, Father Mac earned his Doctorate in Ministry. Fr. Mac's impact on the University community has been tremendous. This follows his distinguished service as a Military Chaplain for the U.S. Navy, among other roles. In 2013, Fr. Mac was the recipient of the St. John Neumann Medal, awarded by the Saint John Neumann Assembly #933 of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus to one person each year who has demonstrated exemplary service to God, Church, and Country. In 2018, HFU Magazine wrote a feature story on Father Mac and his life’s work.

He has touched so many lives in meaningful and transformational ways. We will miss his stories, his commitment to making the Liturgy relevant for all, his joyous passion for the Lord, and his example of living his faith to the fullest each and every day. We are forever grateful for his service and wish him many blessings for the future. Fr. Mac's last day will be August 5.

Final Mass
Father Mac will celebrate his final Mass at Holy Family University on Monday, June 6 at 12 p.m. in the Campus Center Chapel. This will be the final Mass of the academic year.
