HOPE DOES NOT DISAPPOINT.

This year Bishop Shanahan High School celebrates the spiritual theme "Hope does not disappoint," as we prepare for the Jubilee Year of Hope. Join us in prayer each Sunday as we share quotes from the Psalms, Saints, and more!

FROM THE PRESIDENT

Welcome Back, Shanahan!

There is great excitement in the air as we prepare to embark upon a new school year. It is my sincere hope and prayer that this is a time of great blessing, filled with an abundance of wholesome opportunities for our students.

I hope you find this weekly communication helpful and informative. It is our plan to have the newsletter delivered to email boxes each week on Sunday morning. Be sure to click "View Entire Message" to see the whole newsletter each week.

Downingtown Bus Update

All students who ride Downingtown Area School District buses to school should have received a letter from the District regarding updates to their busing schedule. Please be mindful of the following changes:

Transportation Changes for the 2024-25 School Year

  • Bishop Shanahan students will be dropped off between 7:30 and 7:40 a.m.
  • Bishop Shanahan High School students, Collegium Charter School students in grades K-6, and St. Joseph students will share a bus on their morning run. Students will first be delivered to Bishop
  • Shanahan, then to Collegium, and finally to St. Joseph.
  • Youngest students will be assigned seats closest to the bus driver, with high school students sitting in the rear of the bus. An exception will be granted if a younger student wishes to sit with an older sibling.
  • There will be no changes to your afternoon transportation schedules, however the same number of buses will be dedicated to your students in the afternoon as there will be in the morning, which is an increase from last school year. This means students will experience shorter ride times in the afternoon from school to home.
  • Detailed pickup and drop off information was shared the week of August 19th. Please direct any questions regarding transportation to the BSHS Office for Student Services.

Back to School Night

Back to School Night is Thursday, September 19 at 7 PM. This is your opportunity to meet your child's teachers and catch a small glimpse of what a typical school day looks like. The evening begins in homeroom at 7 PM and runs until 9:30 PM. Rosters will be distributed in "homeroom," but you may also bring your own copy or follow the one on PowerSchool.

Have You Read Our One Book, One School Selection?

This summer, as a part of our ongoing Global Awareness initiative, all students and faculty read Refugee by Alan Gratz. The book will provide the foundation for meaningful learning experiences across the curriculum. We encourage all families to read it together and to discuss and explore the many relevant issues it challenges us to confront.

SAT at Bishop Shanahan

Bishop Shanahan hosts the SAT twice each academic year. This year's dates are October 5, 2024 and May 3, 2025. The deadline to register for the October 5 administration is September 10. Click here to register.
