Let's read
Isaiah 40:8.
"The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever."
No matter what happens in the world, God's Word, the Bible, stays the same. Some people like to say that the God of the Old Testament changed in the New Testament. Let's see what you think.
Read
Genesis 15:6 from the Old Testament.
"And he [Abraham] believed in the LORD;
and he [God] counted it to him for righteousness."
How did Abraham become "righteous" in the sight of a holy God? (
Because of His faith in God)
Now, read
Romans 4:5 from the New Testament.
"But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that
justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness."
In the New Testament, how does God say we can become "righteous" in His sight? (
By faith in Him.)
God did not change. The principle of Faith in Him has always been the only way to be made righteous. Abraham trusted God would send a Savior. You and I trust in the Savior He sent. Both are expressions of faith.
God made hundreds of promises throughout the Bible, and they are as trustworthy today as they were when they were written centuries ago. His promises do not change -- ever--you can count on them!
Some people will try to convince you that the Bible is a book that was written to people long ago. They will say that the instructions do not apply to today's people, because the people and the culture have changed. In fact, some people will try to change what the Bible says to make it more acceptable to today's generation.
What does God say about His Word in
Psalm 33:11?
"The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever,
the thoughts of his heart to all generations."
What God's Word said when it was first recorded can still be trusted today for counsel, guidance, and truth. Every generation can learn about God and what He thinks about any topic by reading His unchanging Word.
How often do you take time to hear what God has to say? How often do you seek His Word to answer questions about your life and the world you live in? How often do you use God's promises to bring peace and joy to your troubled soul?
WHY DOES THIS MATTER:
Because God Never Changes, you can trust that His Word is as true today as it was the day it was written.
Because God Never Changes, His promises are the same today and tomorrow as they were the day they were made.
TAKING ACTION:
Thank God for one of His promises and let Him know how glad you are that His Word never changes.
