If we don't teach our children to follow Christ, the world will teach them not to.
GOD NEVER CHANGES (Day 60)

Because GOD NEVER CHANGES, He is the same all the time.

Preparation: It's hard to imagine someone who never changes. We change our clothes, our shoe size, our toys, our friends, and our age! We even change our mind! Can you think of how many other things we change?

We're surrounded by things that change! Some change fast, some change slowly, but everything is changing! Everything, that is, except God!

Read the Bible Memory Verse below.

BIBLE MEMORY VERSE
"For I am the LORD, I change not." (Malachi 3:6)
In 30 seconds, name as many characteristics about God that will never change. (His power, holiness, love, everywhere, truthfulness, mercy, knowledge, always right, faithfulness, creator king, and just.)

Let's read what the Bible says in Hebrews 1:11-12:

"They [the Earth and the heavens] shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all
shall wax old as doth a garment; And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and
they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail."

The verse says that all other things get old and wear out, but what about God? ( He stays the same!)

Now listen to James 1:17:

"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from
the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning."

From this verse we learn that our sinful nature can produce nothing good. The only good that we experience in life comes from God. Have you thanked God today for the good things in your life?

The "lights" refered to in this verse are the sun and stars that continually give off light. Even when it is night, the sun continues to shine (it's reflected by the moon). Even when the storm clouds prevent the sunshine from reaching us, the sun still shines. As constant as the "lights" shine upon us, so does God's goodness. There is no "variableness" (changing) and never a shadow with God.

One more verse to consider is Hebrews 13:8.

"Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever."

Do you think it's a good thing that God never changes? Why/Why not?

If God did change, it would have a huge effect on His other attributes, and it would have a huge effect on our eternal salvation. Aren't you glad of God's unchanging nature?

WHY DOES THIS MATTER:
Because God Never Changes, you never have to worry that any of His attributes will change. You can count on each of them, no matter what!

TAKING ACTION:
Ask God to help you do what's right and to do it in love. If you are afraid, ask God for courage.
