Revelation 19:11.
- This is a passage describing Jesus Christ
- What phrase is used to describe Jesus? (He is called Faithful and True)
If Jesus was not truthful, and broke a promise, what would that mean about His other attributes? God would not be God if He were not faithful all the time.

2 Timothy 2:13 and find out what happens when we aren't faithful to God:
"If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful:
he cannot deny himself."
What happens when we're unfaithful to God? (
He is still faithful to us!)
God is faithful. It's who He is. Even our unfaithfulness can't change who God is. In the Old Testament, the Israelites found this out firsthand. You see, they were ready to go in to the land that God had promised them. However, the majority of them were unfaithful and refused to follow God into the Promised Land. As a consequence, He made them wander in the desert for 40 years!
God still kept His promise to the Israelite nation, but those who refused to trust in Him and kept speaking poorly of Him whenever things were difficult never got to live in the land. The consequences of their disbelief cost them the blessing of seeing God's promise fulfilled. God kept His promise to take the Israelites to a land just for them, but all those who doubted God's faithfulness died in the wilderness without ever seeing it.

1 John 1:9.
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us
our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
The Israelites paid a consequence for their sin against God, yet God remained faithful. The fact that God is Faithful to forgive our sins does not mean we won't suffer some consequences because of them.
God still kept His promise to them. He never left them. He continued to provide for them.
God is always Faithful, even when we are unfaithful.
WHY DOES THIS MATTER:
Because God is Faithful I can be sure that He is faithful even when I'm not.
TAKING ACTION:
Thank God that He is NEVER unfaithful to you or to His promises. You can absolutely count on Him! Ask God to help you trust His promises more.
