If we don't teach our children to follow Christ, the world will teach them not to.
GOD KNOWS EVERYTHING (Day 35)

Because GOD KNOWS EVERYTHING, He knows everything about me.

Preparation: Google, the popular Internet search engine, has become the first stop for most children when they have a question that needs an answer. As powerful as the Google search engine might be, you and I know that it's limited by the knowledge of the one inputting the information.
  • Google can't promise to know the future, and that there's no need to worry.
  • Google can't understand your child's heartache or know how to heal the wounds.
  • Google can't give your child wisdom to know the best decision.
  • Google can't guarantee that the knowledge found there is 100% right.

So why is it that a child can be more inclined to believe what is found on a website than what is found in God's Word? Sadly, knowledge from God's Word is ridiculed, and those who talk about it are labeled as ignorant, naive, and out of touch.

If you want to set your children up for success as they interface with the world around them, you must teach them that God really does Know Everything and help them see why that fact really matters. If you don't, Google may well become their god for knowledge, and you may not even realize it.

Read the Bible Memory Verse below.

BIBLE MEMORY VERSE
For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart,
and knoweth all things. (1 John 3:20)
Think of a secret. Make sure it is something that no one else knows. Let's read from the Bible and see what God says about our secrets. Read the Bible Memory Verse again.
  • How much does God know? (Everything.)
  • Can we keep any secrets from Him? (No.)

How does He know everything? Let's find out what the Bible has to say.

Read John 1:1-3. How does God know everything that has happened in the past? ( He existed before anything else. He's seen it all!)

Read Proverbs 15:3. How does God know everything that is happening right now? ( He is everywhere, all the time. He sees it all and He hears it all.)

Read Isaiah 42:9. How does God know the future? ( He already knows what is going to happen.)

Imagine this: God is never going to learn something new. He already knows EVERYTHING! Talk about getting a hundred percent on every test!

How does the fact that God knows everything and you can't hide anything from Him make you feel? Is there anything you're confused about that you would like to ask God about? What would you ask?

Let's pray about it together, and I'll see if the Bible gives us any answers for you. (NOTE: If you need help with the answers your child needs, please email us and we will be happy to help!)

WHY DOES THIS MATTER:
Because God Knows Everything, you cannot keep any secrets from Him.
Because God knows Everything, you don't have to worry that something will catch Him by surprise.

TAKING ACTION:
Talk with God about how His omniscience (the fact that God knows everything) makes you feel. Have a discussion about God's knowledge compared to ours with a "Mystery Dinner" (see below).

ACTIVITY: MYSTERY DINNER
Prepare your Mystery dinner. You can cook a meal, send out for any type of food you'd like to serve, or just use specific items from your frig or pantry. Be sure that no one knows what the menu will be. When everyone is at the table, blind fold one person and bring out one item. Let him/her taste it and guess what it is. Everyone can give hints until the person guesses correctly. Continue with the next person and another item until all the items are on the table. Enjoy the food and talk about how each person figured out what he/she tasted.

What prevented them from knowing what was for dinner? ( It was kept secret and the blind fold prevented it from being seen.)

What helped figure it out? ( Sense of smell, taste, texture, & hints.)

God has given us amazing abilities to figure out mysteries, but He never has to solve a mystery. No one can keep a secret from Him or hide something from Him. He knows it all.

A Sample Prayer to Conclude Your Time
Dear God,
No one can comprehend what You know. Your knowledge surprises the brightest created mind there is. Thank you for preserving in Your Word the knowledge of Who You are. We praise You for your complete understanding of things past, present and future. You even examine our hearts to know all that we think, say and do. Thank You that through Your grace we can be forgiven of all the sinful things You know about us. We praise You for being the Only One we can trust with our future. You see what is ahead and your love and mercy guides us to wisdom that helps us. We have great peace and hope about the future because of You. Remind us to share Your hope with others.
In Jesus' Name we pray, Amen.
