If we don't teach our children to follow Christ, the world will teach them not to.
GOD IS MERCIFUL (Day 32)

Because GOD IS MERCIFUL, it pleases Him to give us mercy.

Preparation: Have you ever lost something that was precious to you--a doll, a toy, a book? What did you do? How did you respond when you found it?

Read the Bible Memory Verse below.

BIBLE MEMORY VERSE
For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous
in mercy unto all them that call upon thee. (Psalms 86:5)
Jesus told a story about a woman who lost something very precious. Read Luke 15:8-10.

" Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it? And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbors together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost. Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth."

What did the coin do to be found? ( Nothing)
  • You and I can't do anything to earn God's mercy.

What did the woman do when she found her lost coin? ( Called her friends and rejoiced.)
  • God gives us a lot of opportunities to accept His mercy through Jesus. He wants to give us mercy. It gives God joy to give us His mercy.

How can you give God joy? ( Accept His mercy and be sorry for your sin or share His mercy with someone else.)
  • Remember the story about Sam Brown in Day 2?
  • Sam was found guilty of a crime, but the judge, Sam's father, paid the penalty for him. The judge's only joy was seeing his beloved son live his life in freedom.

God is so excited when we accept Jesus' payment for our sin! He wants us to be free from guilt and to live life full of joy! He's like the widow who found a precious coin that was lost. He has a party in heaven for every soul that is saved!

Always remember, as soon as you confess your sin, celebrate God's mercy with thank Him for all that He has done. Then let go of your guilt and live for Him!

WHY DOES THIS MATTER:
Because God is merciful, He wants us to receive His mercy.
Because God is merciful, He is filled with joy when we are sorry when we sin, confess it, and accept His mercy.

TAKING ACTION:
Do you know how thrilled God is that you have accepted His payment for your sins? You are like the lost coin that is found! He's celebrating because of you! Ask God to give you an opportunity to tell someone who still doesn't know about His mercy.

A Sample Prayer to Conclude Your Time
Dear God,
We praise You for being a Merciful Judge Who also became our Gracious Savior. In our lives there is no way to deserve your mercy or give reason for your love. Your mercy enables us to break free from the habits of sin, and experience joy, peace, and fulfillment in life. Help us to be merciful towards those who harm us. Help us also to share about Your Mercy and Grace to those lost in sin.
In Jesus' Name we pray, Amen.
