If we don't teach our children to follow Christ, the world will teach them not to.
GOD IS EVERYWHERE (Day 22)

Because GOD IS EVERYWHERE, He knows what I am going through.

Preparation: Have you ever thought about how great it would be to be in two places at one time? Have you ever had two really fun things scheduled at the same time and you had to choose which one to do and which one to miss out on? What were they? How did you make your choice?

The great thing about God is that He never has to make a choice about where to be! He never misses anything! If your sister has a recital at the same time your brother has a big game, God sees them both!

Because God is Everywhere, all the time, He doesn't miss a thing, neither the good or the bad!

Read the Bible Memory Verse below.

BIBLE MEMORY VERSE
The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.
(Proverbs 15:3)
According to the Bible, what is hidden from God's sight? (Nothing!)
If God sees everything, He must be in more than one place at a time. As a matter of fact, He must be everywhere at the same time!

It's hard to imagine someone being everywhere at the same time. Only God can do that! When we do something wrong, it's tempting to lie so we won't get in trouble. Sometimes we actually pull it off!

Is it possible to lie to God and convince Him that we didn't do anything wrong? (No)
Why/why not? (He sees it all)

Accountable means we all have to answer to God. We may get away with sin for a while, but God says that He will hold us accountable for it. He sees all we think, do, and say. We are held accountable for the good and the bad. No one can fool Him. He is there when we choose to do the wrong thing! He is there when we choose to do the right thing! Be honest with God and obey Him.

But there are times when we ignore God's presence because we are focused on other things (fun, games, friends, and other activities) or needs (food, clothing, home, money, health, and jobs). Sometimes we even forget He is with us while we are busy serving Him.

Brother Lawrence wrote about "practicing the presence of God." For fifteen years, his responsibility was to wash greasy pots and pans; a job he disliked. Practicing the presence of God changed a chore he considered awful into an exciting a privilege.

He writes, “My day-to-day life consists of giving God my simple, loving attention. If I’m distracted, He calls me back in tones that are supernaturally beautiful... The most holy and necessary practice in our spiritual life is the presence of God. That means finding constant pleasure in His divine company, speaking humbly and lovingly with Him in all seasons, at every moment, without limiting the conversation in any way."

Living in God’s presence means realizing that God is with you and is concerned about every part of your life. When you are tempted to complain, talk to God instead. When life seems to be unfair, speak a word to the Lord. When successes come your way, first pause and thank God.

Our ever-present God is everywhere you have been and everywhere you will go. He is in the classroom, the courtroom, the office, the home, and the hospital room. He is with you in life and in death. He is the only One who can be with you no matter what. Are you in the midst of a struggle or situation where you need His guidance? Turn to Him now and place your trust in the One who is always with you. Study His Word and let it guide you.

WHY DOES THIS MATTER:
Knowing He sees everything encourages us to make good choices and think twice before we do what's wrong. Doing wrong when nobody is looking is much easier than doing wrong when you know God is watching you do it!

TAKING ACTION:
  1. Are there chores or activities that you do not like doing? How can practicing God's presence make those times more enjoyable and refreshing?
  2. Stay up late and look at a starry sky. Think about the fact that God is everywhere, even farther than the eye can see. How does this Truth change how you think about your life?
  3. God is present with you each minute of every day. He knows what you do and think every moment. Is there some area in your life in which you are not obeying God? Your ever-present God knows, so repent and commit to obeying Him today.

A Sample Prayer to Conclude Your Time
Dear God,
You are with us everywhere we go. You can see everything we do. You are always available anytime we need You. Forgive us when we do not take time to talk to You in prayer or hear from You in Your Word. Help us to speak and act in ways that glorify You. Help us to recognize and give You thanks for the things You do for us everyday. We thank You for Your promised presence. Guide us in Your will. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
