Susanna I. (“Susie”) Boensch is a member of Offit Kurman's Family Law practice group. Susie's primary focus is on client representation, litigation and complex family matters. She also has additional experience in preparing for and assisting with mediation and court proceedings and negotiating with opposing counsel on behalf of her clients.



Prior to joining Offit Kurman, Susie served as an associate for a local family law firm where she would advise clients regarding complex financial and custody negotiation and litigation. She maintains client relationships through frequent updates and helping them understand complex legal proceedings and concepts.

What are Capital Gains, and How can Capital Gains impact my divorce?

Capital gains are the profits realized from the sale of assets such as stocks, bonds, real estate, or other investments. When an asset is sold for more than its original purchase price, the difference represents a capital gain. These gains are subject to taxation, but the amount of tax owed can vary depending on several factors, including the length of time the asset was held and the individual’s tax bracket.

What happens to Debt in Divorce: Understanding Financial Responsibilities

Financial entanglements can add a layer of complexity to an already difficult situation. Understanding how debts are handled during a divorce is crucial for both parties to ensure a fair and equitable resolution.

Last Month, Cheryl attended the annual meeting of the American College of Family Trial Lawyers at the beautiful Montage Laguna Beach in California. One of the presenters was Singer, Songwriter, and Platinum Producer Jared Lee (pictured with Cheryl). Jared is the son of fellow Diplomate, David Lee, from Massachusetts. Other presenters included Terrence Hake, Lawyer, Prosecutor and Undercover Figure from “Operation Greylord,” which resulted in bribery and tax charges being filed against 103 judges, lawyers and other court personnel, and is one of the FBI’s most successful undercover investigations, as well as Chef Richard Blais, who was the winner of the inaugural Top Chef season on Bravo.


The ACFTL is limited to 100 of the country’s top family trial attorneys.

Lemon Butter Cookies


Cream:


2 eggs

3/4 cup sugar

3/4 cup brown sugar

1 cup softened butter

1 TBS lemon zest

1 tsp vanilla


Add:


2- 1/2 cups flour

2 tsp baking soda

1 tsp salt


Drop by rounded tablespoons, rolled in sugar and bake at 350 degrees for 7 - 9 minutes.


Glaze:

1 TBS lemon juice

1 cup powdered sugar

1 tsp water



Spoon glaze over each cookie and top with lemon zest.
