Autumn Colors - Guided Hike

Saturday, November 18, 2023

10 AM

There's something about the seasonal change that brings happiness. The bright colors of Fall are a sight to behold. Interestingly, as a plant undergoes leaf senescence, the green color fades to a warm yellow or brown, marking this stage in its life cycle. It's fascinating to witness this transformation in the park and vineyards throughout the valley. Join us for an Autumn Hike at Bothe-Napa Valley State Park this Saturday.

Highlights from Recent Volunteer Endeavors

RLS Adopt-A-Crag

The Bay Area Climbers Coalition and Rock Ice Mountain Club partnered to host a volunteer clean-up day at Robert Louis Stevenson State Park. Volunteers removed trash from the roadway and parking lot and performed some trail maintenance work along the monument trail. Together, their efforts resulted in an impressive accomplishment of four truckloads of collected trash. Although it's disheartening to see all of the litter and illegal dumping along the highway, our spirits are lifted by the amazing volunteers who devoted their time to help clean up this park. Thank you, RIM Club and the Bay Area Climbing Coalition, for organizing this volunteer event!

Forest Practices Group

The Forest Practices Group organized a successful volunteer work weekend over Veterans Day weekend at Bothe-Napa Valley State Park. Participants dedicated their time to enhancing the park's aesthetics and safety by cleaning up the day-use road and hazardous trees in the Native American Plant Garden. A heartfelt thank you to all the volunteers for their hard work and commitment to preserving the beauty of Bothe-Napa Valley State Park.

PUC Service Day

The students, faculty, and staff of Pacific Union College continued their impressive efforts from last year and conducted additional trail maintenance and garden work at Bothe-Napa Valley State Park.

This is a strong local partnership where a significant amount of work is accomplished in a short span of time. A big thank you to everyone who participated!

Replacing the Bridge at the Bale Grist Mill

Bridge Replacement Project

The Napa Valley State Parks Association seeks funding to replace a pedestrian bridge at Bale Grist Mill State Historic Park. We have already secured steel beams for the project, a major structural component of the new bridge, but additional funding is needed to ensure its successful completion. The current bridge, a vital access point to the park, is showing signs of wear and tear, prompting the need for reconstruction estimated at $125,000. Your generous contributions will play a crucial role in preserving this iconic landmark and maintaining safe access for all visitors. Support the project by donating today!
