Compost for Good's Compost for Farms program works directly with farmers to increase the biology in soil through the use of high value, biologically robust compost. In this fascinating video feature produced by Adsit Media Works, you'll learn about the importance of soil health and how building up life in your soil can have tremendous impacts on the farm.
Compost for Good is a regional composting initiative that is supported by ANCA and AdkAction.

On November 11, Compost for Good hosted an informal gathering of North Country compost site operators and food scrap haulers to share challenges and opportunities and identify potential collaborations. Local Crowdfunding for Local Projects
Based on national crowdfunding websites like Kickstarter and paired with responsive, real-life, local support from ANCA, our Ignite! crowdfunding platform is currently hosting campaigns for two women-owned Saranac Lake businesses — Main Street Exchange (pictured) and ADK ArtRise.
By providing a more regional focus for investment, Ignite! allows supporters to invest in entrepreneurs who are part of the economic and cultural fabric of North Country communities. You can view and support current projects and campaigns at bit.ly/igniteadk.

Tour North Country Businesses This Holiday Season
Maybe you grew up here. Maybe you had a life changing experience in the region for college, vacation or summer camp. Whatever reason you call the North Country home... you are invited to join us for a Center for Businesses in Transition Familiarization Tour!
Join us to visit our dynamic small communities during "snow globe season," meet engaging local leaders and economic development experts, and most importantly, meet business owners across the region who are preparing to retire and transition their successful businesses to the next generation. Available businesses include marinas, restaurants, bike shops, attractions and more.

REAP Grants Available for Businesses and Farms
High energy bills? Drafty buildings? Old heating and cooling systems? Your business may be eligible for assistance through the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP).
Small businesses and farms could get up to 50% of the costs of their energy efficiency or renewable energy project reimbursed. ANCA will assist with the preparation and submission of the application. Community Policing Initiative
Earlier this month, ADI's Community Policing Initiative hosted 21 police officers and DEC Rangers for Session 2 of their trauma-informed community policing training program. This is the third year of the Initiative's trainings, which have served over 200 officers from 14 law enforcement agencies.

Transgender Day of Remembrance
The Adirondack North Country Gender Alliance (ANCGA) will hold a virtual gathering to recognize International Transgender Day of Remembrance, which memorializes those who have been murdered as a result of transphobia. Recognized annually on November 20, the event raises awareness of the continued violence endured by transgender people in the U.S. and throughout the world. It is a day set aside by the Transgender Community, for the Community, to remember and honor those who were killed in the past year.
What: ANCGA Day of Remembrance Gathering
When: Sunday, November 19, 2:00 p.m.

Community-scale campaigns through NYSERDA's Clean Energy Communities (CEC) Program encourage the adoption of new, innovative technologies that generate value and savings for consumers, support local clean energy businesses, and advance local clean energy goals. Campaigns are typically short-term, municipally-led efforts that reach potential customers through outreach and education.
