Letter from the General Manager
Hello all,
I hope you've been able to get out and enjoy these last few weeks of boating. While it always seems like fall sneaks up on us, the historic flooding at the end of June and early July left us with an uncharacteristically short boating season. That being said, I'm proud of our marina staff and the hard work they put in to get the grounds cleaned up and ready for use so quickly after the water receded.
Despite the challenges we faced with a major flood so late in the season, we were still able to make significant improvements to the marina, including the long-awaited hookup to city sewer. Blacktop refurbishment is scheduled and things are starting to come together down here. We are slowly making repairs to the docks, slips and harbors as time allows. All in all, I'm happy with where we're at and look forward to even more progress next season.
Unfortunately, now it's time to start getting the boats ready for winter. You can find winterizing information and haul-out dates below, along with some of the service promotions we have available for winter work over the 2024-2025 off season.
Hopefully many of you will find the time to make it down here and enjoy the river before haul out begins. And make sure to get your ticket for the fall party by August 30th! The fall party will be held on Saturday September 14th and we need to make meal arrangements for everyone who plans to attend. As always, there will be a raffle after the meal, along with music, dancing and great company!
Thanks for a great boating season.
Regards,
Scott Baken, General Manager

Winterizing & Haul Out Information
Each boat in our marina needs to have this form filled out for the winter, even we do not do your winterizing.
For DIY boaters, simply check the "DIY" box on the form and we'll know that you plan to do the work yourself.
If we do your winterizing and you need any additional service work done, you can let us know here as well.
For boats being pulled out of the water and stored on land, make sure to sign up early! Launch weeks fill up fast and are maxed out at 50 boats per week! If you fail to sign up for haul out, we will pull the boat at our convenience.
If Windmill winterizes or pulls your boat out of the water...leave the keys in the boat!

Winter Storage Suggestions

Leave drain plugs, fenders, lines and batteries
Use dehumidifier crystals to combat condensation
Try fabric softener sheets in cabinets and drawers to keep things smelling fresh and deter rodents
Try Kanberra Gel, or a similar product, to control mold and mildew growth

What Should You Do With Your Batteries?
Answer: leave them in the boat!
If we do your winterizing services, we need to run your boat. If you remove the batteries, we will have to use our shop supplies and will charge an extra $50 for your winterizing.
Make sure your batteries are fully charged prior to storage. Good batteries are capable of withstanding winter temperatures. If you think you have a bad battery and want it taken out, you are responsible for removing it. Windmill does not remove or store batteries when performing winterizing services. If you want to remove your batteries, you will have to wait until winterizing is complete and you will need to put a hold on your shrink wrapping, as boats are shrink wrapped shortly after they come out of the water.

What Should You Do With The Hull Plug?
(for boats stored on the trailer)
After parking your boat and trailer in your designated spot, remove the hull plug and put it in the cup holder by the steering wheel. With excessive rain, your boat can sink on land!

DIY Bubble Boats
If you do your own winterizing services and you are bubbling your boat (water storage) over the winter, we will notify you what slip you'll be in. It is your responsibility to move your boat to your assigned slip. There is a $100 fee if Windmill has to move the boat for you.
DIY bubble boats MUST get a tag from the gas dock when they do their final pump out of the year.

Fall Gas Dock Hours
Our fuel dock will remain open until mid-to-late October, as the weather permits. We open every morning at 8:00AM and close at dusk. As the sun begins to set earlier, the evening fuel dock hours will shorten. You can call the office to confirm closing times before you bring your boat over.
