ISU Public Safety aims to reduce the impact of emergencies and help the campus community respond and recover from them effectively. To aid in this, ISU buildings on the Pocatello and Idaho Falls campuses will practice a fire evacuation drill between the dates of August 26 and September 6. The evacuation schedule is available on our website.
Buildings impacted by active construction will complete their drills at a later date. Additionally, in some buildings that do not have a fire alarm system, a safety walkthrough of the spaces will be conducted in lieu of a full evacuation. Please review the schedule for details.
We offer a variety of resources on our website to support you through this process. These include the ISU Emergency Action Plan, which serves as the primary guide for staff, faculty, and students during campus emergencies. Additionally, each building has a tailored evacuation plan detailing information specific to that location. Emergency plans are available on our website.
During the first week of school, we will provide staff, faculty, and students with the finalized evacuation schedule, how to locate the nearest Area of Assembly, and what to expect if they are in a building when it is being evacuated.
In addition, safety messages will be shared with the campus community throughout September in recognition of National Preparedness Month. Keeping our ISU campuses prepared for emergencies is a shared responsibility, and we're grateful for your support in ensuring our campuses are ready to handle any situation.
If you have questions about the process or your building’s time slot, please email emergencymanagement@isu.edu. We will review all requests received before Friday, August 16, make adjustments to the schedule as best as we are able, and post any changes.
Sincerely,
ISU Department of Public Safety
