Blue MOON Class

Fri. Sept. 28th

7-8:30

Join Angela Preat & Sue Larock for an evening in the park to celebrate the Full Moon.
We will practice under the Harvest Moon-the full moon closest to the Autumnal Equinox.

Sue will lead you through Chandra Namaskar-the Moon Salutation-a soothing yet empowering counterbalance to the Sun Salutation. Then Angela will lead you to connect to your yin side with a cooling practice done under the light of the Harvest Moon. You will calm and relax your mind and body with some deep stretch posts.

Uncover your wisdom, creativity and balance with this nurturing practice.

Class is donation based.
Congrats to Robert on completing 200hrs Teacher Training!

Robert's interest in athletics and physical fitness began at an early age with involvement in basketball, baseball, football, and martial arts.  His lifetime active practice in the martial arts proved beneficial in his professional career as a law enforcement officer at the Hazleton Police Department.  As the department's Use of Force/Defensive Tactics Instructor, Robert continued to expand on his skill at defensive tactics through gaining certifications as an instructor in Pressure Point Control Tactics, and Controlled Force/Survival Force systems, with additional training in Blauer Tactical Systems, and Krav Maga. As an active police officer, chief of police, and assistant team leader of the HPD Special Operations Unit (SWAT) since its inception in 1998, Robert has instructed fellow police officers in street survival techniques after having been personally involved in countless situations on the street where physical force was a necessity during the arrests of criminals.

As a means to remain as physically fit as possible for violent street encounters as a police officer, Robert relied on his extensive knowledge of a multitude of fitness modalities such as weight training with free weights and machines, clubbells, and kettlebells.  But it was his keen interest in training almost equipment-free with bodyweight-only training techniques that led him to begin his self-exploration of yoga in 2008, progressing to formal Power Vinyasa yoga classes in 2009.  Upon discovering that yoga easily matched the physical intensity of any previous physical conditioning exercises -- combined with having been actively engaged in meditation practice for most of his life -- as he explored the many beautifully different styles of yoga, he decided that yoga was the perfect fit.  He was pleasantly surprised to find as his study of yoga deepened, that the eight limbs of yoga provided -- in one system -- all of the elements that bring balance to our human existence; a balance that he had found previously only through separate practices.

Yoga so effectively addressed total body strength and flexibility, while combining the de-stressing and integrating components of breathing and meditation work (also important for any serious martial arts practitioner), that he found it a natural and logical extension to complete the 200 hour yoga teacher certification for Vinyasa Flow in August 2012 at Balance Yoga and Wellness, Forty Fort, PA with studio owner Jennifer Ciarimboli and San Francisco instructor, Pradeep Teotia.

Meet Sue Larock

My yoga journey began in 2000, when on the advice of family members, I took a class as a way to reduce stress and manage my hectic lifestyle.

My first class was a powerful experience for me. This type of practice spoke to my heart. I felt lightness and expansion in my mind and body that was new to me.   The mind body awareness brought focus, greater clarity and balance to my busy life. This practice felt right for me, I felt more conscious and at ease.

My journey continued as I developed a home practice and began to read everything I could to gain more knowledge. I studied with many amazing and talented teachers each one encouraging me; helping to open to more possibilities They have been my guides and mentors and I carry their wisdom with me every day of my life. I am eternally grateful to them for sharing their insight and love of yoga with me.

Yoga is a journey of personal development, rich with possibilities for everyone who experiences it. The uniting of mind, body and spirit will enrich and inspire all to a life of limitless possibilities.

I earned my certification from Linda Christy Weiler of the Academy of Holistic Fitness. I am currently working on my 200 hour certification with Dr Paul Jerald of Aura Wellness Center and have participated in many weekend workshops with Deanna McLaughlin, who instilled in me a love of Yin yoga.

I practice a gentle Hatha yoga with an emphasis on the breath, movement and alignment. My hope is to share this ancient and life affirming practice so that others can experience the amazing transformation, clarity and balance that yoga can bring.
