Careful estate planning now can result in the minimization or elimination of gift, estate, and income taxes on the transfer of your home to your heirs. Are Tenants by the Entireties (T-by-E) the same thing as Joint Tenants with Rights of Survivorship (JTROS)? The simple answer is that they appear to be very similar and therefore, they are often mistaken for one another. Buyer beware; they are not similar!

As a former Attorney Advisor with the IRS Office of Associate Chief Counsel (Corporate) in Washington, D.C. Marcie has extensive experience in corporate tax planning at the federal level. Today, her practice focuses on estate, trust, and business matters, including transactional tax and charitable planning. She is on the boards of Parkinson Association of Southwest Florida (Treasurer), Books for Collier Kids, Naples Zoo Planned Giving Committee, and the Professional Advisors Council of the Community Foundation of Collier County. Outside of the office, Marcie enjoys spending time paddle boarding on the Gulf
