Prayers for FaithWorks Sunday

A kind friend, Carol Kysela McDonough, has prepared the following prayers for FaithWorks Sunday. Please use them as you like.

FaithWorks Sunday, Reign of Christ - Single Petition - 2020

Let us celebrate the Reign of Christ today in remembrance that Divinity arose among us in Jesus, lives within us, and sees us daily in the lives of those who call out for assistance.

We pray for all those who work within the FaithWorks family of support. We pray that our gratitude for their work may enrich their lives and sustain their energies for the great work that they are called to do.

We pray for all those whom they assist, that their lives may be renewed for full participation in the human family.

We pray for the success of the FaithWorks fundraising campaign, that we too may be given a chance to be those hands that do the work of saving lives and offering hope for so many. Help us to be as generous a possible, especially in this time when we are made aware of what it is to be alone, in need, and fearful of the future.

May the eyes of our hearts be always open to the full humanity of all.

We pray in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Brother.

Amen.

Faith Works Sunday, Reign of Christ, Prayers of the People – 2020

Our bidding today will be: “Holy God, in your compassion”
And the response will be: “Hear our prayer”

Holy God, in your compassion
Hear our prayer

Let us pray for Christ’s One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church.
We pray today and always for the clergy and leaders of Your Church at every level as they guide us back to safe worship and into an expanded understanding and experience of Your Church.

We pray for this Church whose holy purpose is to make us more able to know Jesus, whom we call “The Christ”; through our worship, through our community, but especially through knowing Jesus in those who have been isolated from the human family due to poverty, injustice, discrimination, illness, and sheer vulnerability.

We pray for the FaithWorks family of support that those who work within it find their lives deeply enriched and their energy sustained by the gratitude of all who learn of their work. We pray for the success of the FaithWorks fundraising campaign. Through this campaign we are given a chance to be those hands that do the work of saving lives and offering hope for many. Help us to be as generous as possible, especially in this time when we are made aware of what it is to be alone, in need, and fearful of the future.

May the eyes of our hearts be always open to the full humanity of all.

Holy God, in your Compassion
Hear our Prayer

Loving God, in every age you call your people to love one another by seeking justice and mercy for all. Help us to act in our daily lives to erase the divisions among people that stifle life.

Holy God, in your Compassion
Hear our prayer.

Let us pray for this creation which we have been given. Almighty God, pour down Your healing on all creatures stressed by climate change and pollution. Help us to live in balance and beauty with our home and all its life.
 Holy God, in your compassion
Hear our prayer

Let us pray for those who are suffering from war, poverty, ignorance, violent crime, cruelty, or injustice of any kind;

for all those who are sick or suffering in body, mind or spirit, especially  _________ , ___________, and for all in our hearts and those whom we have forgotten.

Resourceful God, Your goodness reaches to every dire circumstance, infuse these lives with comfort and strength.

Holy God in your compassion,
Hear our prayer

Let us pray for those whom we have lost in these last days as they continue their journey to God.

Especially, we remember ____________, ___________, and ________.

Holy One, we lift them to your loving hands.

Rest eternal grant to them, O Lord.
And let light perpetual shine upon them.

Let us celebrate the Reign of Christ, today, in remembrance that Divinity arose among us in Jesus, lives within us, and sees us daily in the lives of those who call out for assistance. May that Divinity be a source of strength, hope, kindness, and joy in all of us and may our prayers today, be woven into the great living changing fabric of God’s Kingdom.
Almighty, God, we pray in the name of Jesus Christ who is alive with You and the Holy Spirit, today and forever.

Amen

cheque presentation by
Bp. George Elliott & Geoff Peat,
raising $22,000

I have only one word for this … WOW!

Thank you so much for sharing this photo, it took my breath away! Thank you all so much for the hard work you did in fundraising for our ministry. Rev. Sheilagh was a tremendous influence and inspiration in my life and journey to ordination. Your work in her memory means more to me than I can say without crying!

Just over the past week the Toronto Urban Native Ministry fed over 600 people, facilitated three meetings with different Anglican parishes on Indigenous realities and ministries, facilitated a sacred fire and traditional funeral for a community member who died, facilitated a sharing circle, facilitated and organized a day of free flu shots and COVID-19 testing in the encampment, and led online worship with an Indigenous Land Defender from the Philippines. I do not receive a budget from the Diocese for any of this work - so your contributions make possible this ministry. We cannot do this life-giving and life-affirming work in the community without the generous and creative support like we have received from your parish.

In gratitude,
Rev. Leigh Kern
Indigenous Ministries Coordinator

$100,000
Matching Challenge Grant
For PARISHES !!!

We are excited to have been offered a new matching challenge grant of $100,000 for new or increased donations. The challenge is only for parishes. In other words, for every increased dollar a parish contributes to FaithWorks over last years amount, this generous donor will match it with another dollar up to $100,000.

If a parish increases it's contribution to FaithWorks this year over 2019 by $1,000, it becomes $2,000. If a parish's increase is $5,000, it becomes $10,000. If a parish's increase is $10,000, it becomes $20,000, for those most vulnerable and struggling every day.

There are two ways for individuals to participate in this challenge and contribute to their parish's total.

1) An individual can make a donation directly to their parish designated for FaithWorks, as in the past.

2) To make online contributions easier the FaithWorks website has been modified to give credit to a parish for an individual's donation. Simply go to faithworks.ca and follow the instructions to put the parish's name in the Comments section when making a donation.
