Lithuania is celebrating 100 years of independence. It seems appropriate time, therefore, to examine what this Baltic nation has to offer travelers.

Kaunas
Between 1920 and 1940 Kaunas was the temporary capital of Lithuania. The fast-growing city became a cradle of the Lithuanian intelligentsia and culture. On December 2015 Kaunas became the first city in Eastern and Central Europe to win UNESCO City of Design status.

Kaunas Hansa Days
Kaunas is the only city in Lithuania that is currently a member of the new Hansa Union. In May the city celebrates Kaunas Hansa Days. During the event knights fights and competitions take place, as well as show jumping and folk art fair; various music and dance groups entertain the viewers, traditional games are organised at the Kaunas castle grounds, acrobats, jugglers and jokers play, there is also archery shooting and plays performed under the open sky.


Klaipėda Sea Festival
On the last weekend of July the sea is traditionally saluted, as the major  Sea Festival  takes place in Klaipėda offering hundreds of events. It is an extremely cheerful weekend in summer that attracts people to the sea, also known as the Summer Christmas. The goal of the festival is to promote seafaring by entertaining people. Concerts, performances and plays are staged in the city during the Sea Festival.

DZŪKIJA National Park
The largest protected territory in Lithuania which is inhabited by 250 species of the Red List, with 30 rivers and streams flowing through the park. More than 50 mammal species, around 200 species of birds, reptiles and amphibians, and even 760 species of butterflies live in the park’s territory.  The park can be explored  both by travelling on foot and using the cycle routes or water tracks. In summer or autumn the forests are rich with wild mushrooms and berries.  

Palanga Baltic Sea Town
The summer capital boasts a large number of pubs, cafes, restaurants, discos, bars and nightclubs. You may visit E. Andre designed park with the mansion of Tiškevičiai and Amber Museum. A stroll down J.Basanavičius street is a must.

Druskininkai Health Resort
Druskininkai is a health resort with the longest traditions in the country. It offers you a wide array of wellness services, including mineral, whirlpool, oxygen, vertical and herbal and mud baths. You may also enjoy underwater massage, honey masks, salt room and oil therapy. Strolling in pine forests will restore your body and mental powers, strengthen the immune system, improve health and bolster all your powers.

Old Town of Vilnius
In 1994 the  Old Town of Vilnius  Historic Centre was globally recognised for its outstanding universal value and inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. It is the largest Old Town in Eastern Europe with an impressive complex of Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque and classical buildings which can be admired by the culture-loving citizens of Vilnius and the visitors of the city.
