Welcome to Spring! (almost) Fashion is enjoying a few updates. Here are some trends I like, and you may want to explore.......
Lengths are a bit longer on skirts and dresses. It has been a long time since I thought these lengths were anything other than frumpy, but now they feel so chic.
Of course shorter lengths are still and always sensational, particularly with a structured dress or heavy fabric. Look at these gorgeous silhouettes from Victoria Beckham (who knew?)
Prints and textures are suddenly exciting and very, very sophisticated. Look at these......not your ethnic maxi or your favorite sun dress. These frocks have no hint of c ountry charm. They are pure CITY !
Mixing one of these dynamic, textured prints into your wardrobe is just right for our lifestyle and our often chilly spring weather.
But PLEASE don't show me yet another structured bag. I guess I am just not mature enough (read: OLD) to appreciate carrying a box.

 When I walk into the Ribbonerie I always feel like Alice. Certainly, this is what Wonderland looks like. Miles of exquisite texture and color leap from the walls. Immediately recognizing many uses for the lovely ribbon, Paulette began importing it to small wholesale accounts in the USA, and the Ribbonerie was born. Today the store is the largest specialty ribbon purveyor in the west with more than 1000 styles of ribbon and decorative trims as well as instructional classes. | amazon.com ~ Would you sell-your-soul for five bucks?
The shame. When did successful big-business become so shameless? 
E-commerce; the next wave, the state-of-the-art shopping experience. Everything you want or need at the tip of your fingers 24 hours a day, every day. You live in the middle of "nowhere"? No prob! Order the latest and greatest online now, available everywhere! Never before has so much been so available so easily. Tragically, new and improved availability did not translate into new and improved business ethics. It is not surprising that the advent of e-commerce has done much to eliminate the "brick and mortar" business we grew up with. Instant comparison shopping, volume pricing and greater choices made good style and good value instantly attainable to anyone with an Internet connection. What is shocking to me is that the behemoth corporate monsters who are offering these benefits are also actively trying to destroying our choices and eliminate any remaining small business. Predatory Pricing is and has been a problem since the inception of e-commerce, but amazon.com has taken the practice to a whole new level. Perhaps you already know that amazon does not collect or pay any state sales tax (an area overlooked in the evolution of e-commerce and most definitely an unfair advantage, not to mention a huge cheat to our communities) and their massive efforts and expenditures to avoid doing so are completely disgusting. (Read Here) But THIS ONE takes the cake. amazon.com has an app that offers you FIVE DOLLARS off any book purchase if you enter an independent bookstore, browse, shop, peruse and choose a book...then "scan" it with your smart-phone and purchase it from amazon. THAT IS SICK. How low can one get? First, I can't enter an amazon.com and enjoy the atmosphere, grab an espresso, handle as many beautiful books as I want, enjoy the tactile sensation they provide, then make an educated decision about purchasing. I can't absorb exhilarating cover-art, spontaneously spot a treasure I had not not known of, attend a lecture and signing by an author. I can only click, purchase and hope-for-the-best. But the REALLY gross thing is that........ Read The Rest!

Carla in black....So Divine!
The other day as I was jetting into the city, I stopped at a crosswalk for a very striking gal. She looked sensational in her boots and long sweater, glamorous leather messenger bag slung low on her hip.
But wait....that's my sweater!
And so it was, this knock-out crossing Bay St. was wearing a Carla b.jersey sweater. I can't tell you what a thrill it is to see someone wearing one of our garments. Final Thoughts........
Big changes and fun things continue to unfold for us now that we no longer have a brick-and-mortar location. It is exciting and stimulating, but I must say.....I miss our store......because I miss you. When I feel pangs of homesickness for bettina. I realize it is our customers that I miss. I miss seeing you, my wonderful patrons and friends; The people who supported us, inspired and challenged us. The people who cared about us and liked what we represented. The many women who trusted us to dress them and who appreciated the result of our labors. I miss sharing your special occasions, seeing your gown, your earrings, your updo, celebrating promotions, new homes and pregnancies.....I MISS SEEING YOU! I huge heartfelt thank you for your continued interest and support.
