Call for Statements of Interest

The Northeast Climate Adaptation Science Center (NE CASC) is pleased to announce a call for Statements of Interest regarding Fiscal Year 2025 Research Awards. Approximately $1.5 million is available to initiate FY25 projects in the Northeast region. We anticipate that 4-6 projects will be funded through this solicitation.
- Individual awards are not expected to exceed $499,000 (inclusive of all indirect and overhead costs as applied by all organizations involved, including any necessary pass-through host costs) for the life of the project.
- Projects are not to exceed 36 months
- Projects longer than 24 months should include interim deliverables.
- The Northeast region includes the following states: Connecticut, Delaware, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, and West Virginia

Statements of interest must be responsive to the NE CASC FY25 strategic goals and science priorities in addition to adhering to the proper format and guidelines as outlined in the full funding opportunity announcement

Submission deadlines for this opportunity will follow the schedule below:
- Deadline for Statements of Interest: Wednesday, May 23, 2024, 5:00 PM EDT
- Full Proposals Invited (Planned): Thursday, August 15, 2024
- Deadline for Invited Full Proposals: Thursday, October 17, 2024, 5:00 PM EDT
- Notification of Intent to Award or Proposal Status Update: TBD, after a federal fiscal year budget is in place (Spring 2025)

Eligibility guidelines for this opportunity are as follows:
- Principal investigators from either a NE CASC University Consortium member institution (see below) or the U.S. Geological Survey may submit a Statement of Interest for consideration.
- Parties from other organizations (federal, state, tribal, non-governmental, and other) may participate in CASC-funded projects and receive funds via subawards through an eligible PI’s organization, as described above, or other permissible funding vehicles.
- Non-eligible parties are encouraged to establish working partnerships with a Principal Investigator from the USGS or an NE CASC Consortium Organization
- NE CASC consortium members include the following:
- University of Massachusetts Amherst (host institution)
- Columbia University
- Cornell University
- University of Vermont
- USFS Northern Research Station
- Woodwell Climate Research Center
