Join Us for Worship This Sunday!

June 2 at 10 a.m.

Rev. Karen G. Johnston, Senior Minister

Melinda Lee & Dan York, Worship Associates

"Love at the Center: Recognition Sunday"

If it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a community to allow a congregation to hum and strum, to survive and thrive. Each congregational year, thousands of hours are spent embodying who we are, how we are, and what we are. Let’s pay attention, with gratitude as our guide, to this most-amazing effort that is the essence of First UU. For the second time this year, we will be welcoming new members at this service. Rev. Karen is in the pulpit.

After the service, there will be a congregation-wide potluck picnic. Plan to stick around to connect and reconnect. For more details about what you can bring, click here.

Infants and toddlers are always welcome in the Sanctuary, but the nursery, on the lower level, is open if needed.

Join us for worship in person in the Sanctuary, or online. The livestream link and order of service will be shared at bit.ly/FUUSBWorship, or visit our YouTube channel.

While at the Meeting House, anyone is welcome to wear a mask. In the spirit of caring for each other, please stay home if you have any cold or flu symptoms. Thank you.

Dandelion- June's Earth Teacher

Rev. Karen G. Johnston, Senior Minister

An invitation to deepen your relationship with the natural world by spending each month reflecting on a specific Earth Teacher. June's Earth Teacher is Dandelion and the date for the virtual reflection session has changed to Sunday, June 2, 2024 7:00 - 8:15 pm.  Please register through Realm to attend.

Please bring a way to journal (writing, drawing, keyboarding). Optional: a chalice to light. This session includes individual reflection and small group work, using content from the Earth Teacher packet sent out electronically to the FUUSB congregation at the end of the month before. Familiarity with the packet is not necessary.

This is our last Earth Teacher session until the fall.

Friday June 14-Sunday June 16

The Annual Campout is coming up quick! 70ish happy campers expected and we may still have space for more!

Do you like the sound of UU fellowship in the great outdoors, but are not inspired to sleep in a tent? Why not come for a daytrip on Saturday or join us for the potluck on Friday evening at 6:30 (I hear Rev. Karen will be there!)

Contact Erika Reif for more information (erika@uusociety.org).

June 23rd - Parents Circle Families Forum

Rev. Karen G. Johnston, Senior Minister

Please save this date in your schedule - Sunday, June 23 after the service. We have the honor of hosting this interfaith event that includes sharing a simple lunch and then taking in a live Zoom presentation with members of the Parents Circle, a group of individuals from both Palestine and Israel who have experienced the loss of a loved one in the conflict and who choose reconciliation and co-existence. Do you want to grow your sense of hope around what is happening in the Middle East? Save this date/time in your calendar now.

Racial Justice Meeting

Caitlin Waddick, Racial Justice Team

The Racial Justice Team meets regularly on the first Tuesday of every month, online using Zoom. Please join our next meeting, online, on Tuesday, June 4.

Contact us at racialjustice@uusociety.org to get the Zoom link. We start every meeting by welcoming visitors.

Also, we have a Racial Justice Interest List On Realm for people who don’t want the busyness of our ongoing discussions and want to keep up to date on announcements. Our website is Racial Justice Team - First Unitarian Universalist Society of Burlington.
