Matthew 22: 34-40

34 When the Pharisees heard that Jesus had left the Sadducees speechless, they met together. 35 One of them, a legal expert, tested him. 36 “Teacher, what is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

37 He replied, “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your being, and with all your mind. 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: You must love your neighbor as you love yourself. 40 All the Law and the Prophets depend on these two commands.”

Jesus lays out pretty clearly what it means to live out the faith. Just 2 things. It's just that easy and just that hard.

As you prepare for worship Sunday reflect upon these things:

  • What does it mean to love God with everything we have? How might our lives, or the world be changed if we each strove to live out this first command every day?
  • What does it mean to love our neighbor as we love ourselves? What might that look like and what adjustments might we each need to make in the way we live our lives in order or fulfill this second command?

See you Sunday!

Simple Sunday School this weekend!

Ms. Erin(next week through the end of July, we will welcome Gracie Jones to lead this!) will gather the children, after the children's message during our 9:45 service, to allow them some time to learn and grow together. They will be brought back up to worship during communion, to sit with their families . PreK - rising 5th grade welcome!

Get this on your calendar for next Saturday, and come help out before the heat of the day!

Save the date!

Tree Fredericksburg has donated Mulch to cover the hillside on the far side of the parking lot. The mulch has already been delivered!  This is event is being sponsored by the Trustees, The United Methodist Men, The Women of Faith, the Green Team, and Tree Fredericksburg. We plan to start spreading this beginning at 9:30 and with enough hands will be done by noon. All men are invited to join the men’s group for Breakfast before this event in the fellowship hall at 8:30 AM.

"How can I Help?!" :

Got Newspaper?! Tree Fredericksburg suggests that we lay newspaper on the ground and use that as a weed preventer. That means that we need lots of newspapers so if you subscribe or purchase a newspaper save it and bring it to the gathering space before July 13.

PRAY! for good weather so that we are not trying to spread it in rain or extreme heat!

Come help spread the mulch beginning at 9:30 AM!

Evening time Food Pantry volunteer opportunity!

We are looking for several people who would pick up unsold bread and pastries from the Panera off Rt 17 and deliver them to the church. Here are the specific details:

Panera Bread

24 S Gateway Dr · (540) 371-4100

Open ⋅ Closes 10 PM

Pick-ups would be on Tuesday evenings at approximately 9:50 pm, they close at 10 pm

So far the amount has been 2-3 large boxes of items in bulk, they are not very heavy.

Delivery would be Wednesday morning, really anytime, but around 11:00 am would be best for the pantry staff.

Currently we are getting deliveries twice a month, but ideally we could handle a weekly delivery.

There can be flexibility in terms of times and days of pickup and delivery, what is above is the ideal set up.

POC to get started: Thomas Gerseny

Easy things to do to be better Caretakers of God’s Creation!!.

Close curtains and/or blinds at night or on hot days. It can help insulate at night and also block the heat from the sun on summer days. In winter, open the curtains to let in the sun’s heat.
