Fleet Accreditation Survey

On behalf of all of the IHSA, along with the support of the Transportation Advisory Council and the FSC Joint Executive Committee you are invited to participate in a short survey.

This initiative was initially brought forward by the Eastern Ontario (Ottawa) Chapter. As a result, the IHSA has been meeting with industry stakeholders to explore the benefits of creating a Certified Transportation Professional Accreditation Program. The program would include required courses, an exam and ongoing re-certification.

As transportation safety professionals we value your feedback and support and would appreciate if you could take a few minutes to complete this short survey so that we may determine next steps in this project.

Occupational Health Updates

Occupational Hygiene Consulting Services

Occupational Hygiene Consulting Services: Within the construction, transportation, and utilities sectors, workers are often exposed to a variety of chemical (airborne dusts and contaminants) and physical (heat stress, noise) hazards. Carrying out an exposure assessment can allow you to determine the level of risk against hazardous chemical or physical agents. To learn more about the types of exposure assessments, and how it can apply at your workplace, visit IHSA’s Occupational Health page.

Hearing Protection Advisory: Ear Plugs Versus Ear Buds

When workers are exposed to noise for too long or at levels that are too loud, this can cause irreversible damage that results in hearing loss known as noise induced hearing loss (NIHL). Some workers have been using ear buds as hearing protection devices (HPDs).

IHSA has created a new hearing protection advisory about these devices and it they should be used in place of ear plugs. You can also find additional resources on hearing protection on the IHSA website.
