April 28: Day of Mourning

On April 28, 2024, Canadians will observe the National Day of Mourning. For decades, the day has been dedicated to remembering and honouring those who have died, suffered an injury, or been stricken by illness while on the job or due to their work.

In recognizing them, we reaffirm our commitment to continually improving health and safety in workplaces in Ontario and across the country.

New Opioid harm prevention safety talk series

IHSA has developed a series of Opioid-Related Safety Talks to assist in having meaningful conversations in the workplace to raise awareness, reduce stigma, minimize barriers to care and, to support others who may be suffering.

Sector workplaces can do their part and work to change the culture of the jobsite—to remove the stigma of talking about pain management, mental health concerns, and drug use including opioids.

We encourage you to check out the six new Safety Talks and prepare to deliver them in your workplaces.
