THE POWER FROM FASTING AND PRAYER
PART 7
THE BENEFITS – LESSON 5
We saw yesterday that Jesus told us to do greater works than what He did while he was on earth. In Matthew 28:18-19b, he said, “All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore…” We are to go and do the works he did. He has promised that as we go to spread the gospel and to do his works and what we ask (or speak in his name) he will do it according to John 14:13-14.
The works of the Father, in Jesus’ name include, but are not limited to, healing the sick, the lame, blind, the crippled, and casting out demons. Also, we are to bring people to repentance unto salvation.
You may bring the dead or the dying back to life. Jesus did it at least three times as recorded. Most Christians, including ministers have never done that nor do they feel they can do it. But, through prayer and fasting, it can become a reality for you or any believer when led by the Holy Spirit. It happened to me.
I did much fasting and prayer from 1997 to 2000 A.D. I completed an extensive period of fasting in March of 2000. Over the next three years, up to February 2003, Jesus through the Holy Spirit had me pray for the dead or dying and they came back to life three times. Oddly enough, that is the same number of times Jesus did it.
I do not boast of this. I am even somewhat reluctant to bring it up, but I mention it only to show you the perfection of power through Jesus’ name that can come from fasting with prayer.
Jesus fasted and prayed often during his time on earth. If he needed to do it, how much more should we do it?
In Matthew 9:14-15 we see that the Pharisees questioned Jesus as to why his disciples did not fast as they did. Jesus told them that once he was gone, “then they shall fast.” (Matthew 9:15b.) They would no longer have Jesus with them in the flesh, so by fasting they would be strengthened in him.
Great power can come through fasting. It is power direct from Jesus.

SPIRITUAL BABIES
One of the sure signs of a new baby is that many times they are hard to put to sleep. You may rock them and feed them, and change their diaper, but many times they still cry. This stage changes as a child grows but can be very demanding on the Mom and Dad while they are growing out of this stage. Then comes the terrible twos, the teen years and finally they become adults. Mom and Dad are there but many times the “child” doesn’t want any advice through those teenage and early adult stages. They “think they know it all.”
Often Christians are like this. They go through many stages, but there are those that never get out of the baby stage. They have never grown up in the things of God. They want the sweetness of milk without the challenge of chewing on meat. God instructs us to grow and not be “little children.” We are told In I Corinthians 3: 1-3 “and I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, (fleshly) and walk as men?” The Church at Corinth was full of babes in Christ that had not matured. Because of that there were divisions and strife and envyings. They were like babies wanting their own way. Sadly, many are put into leadership. No wonder there are problems in some churches.
So how do you grow into maturity? You study the Word of God and grow in faith until you mature. Easy? No way! There will be skinned knees through the growth process, and fear of failure, but it must not supersede the growing. A church is full those that are babies, children, teens and adults, in their walk with God. We all are growing and at different stages.
Just like one would not want a child to stay in the baby stage, we cannot stay in the spiritual baby stage either. As one preacher so aptly put it and said, “it is time to grow up!” Think of it like this my friends, when there are mature Christians there will be no divisions, strife, and envyings. Sounds like Utopia, right? Well, that is what we should aim for.

Prophetic Word
As given to Helen Sanders
I have drawn a line in the sand this day saith the Lord. For this day you must make a choice to go all the way with me and forsake all others or go the way of the world and the lukewarm church and go your own way. This season is the season that I will bring much change and only those that walk close to me and listen will hear what I have to say. I will put a word in the mouths of false prophets to make things look like they will be better in the days ahead, but this is not the way it will be. For gross darkness is coming upon the face of the earth. There will never be a time again where one would say all is peaceful. There will never be a time again when all is well in the world. Yes, the light of God will be upon those that have made the choice to go all the way with me, for there is a remnant that listens and obeys. My light shall shine through them. There will be days that bring many suddenlies. Sudden disasters, sudden increase of anointing, sudden deaths, and sudden healings. As the world sways far to the dark side, the ones that walk in my light will bring victory to many and pull them out of the darkness. For this is not the time to play games. Many will be released from their assignments because they chose to not go all the way and pay the price of the call. I will be calling many home that would fail in this hour saith the Lord. There are those that have endured great temptation, sorrow, and stretching, and have come through the fire of testing victorious. I have seen your tears and heard your prayers. Yes, there will be more difficult times, but I will sustain you as I did my children that have trusted me in the past. I will speak and when you hear me say, this is the way, walk in it, you will know that I am leading you. There will be a safety hedge, a safety net around those that listen and obey. Do not think that there will not be persecution of those that make a stand. For those in your own household will come against you. Those in your body of believers will turn against you. Many will say why have you not compromised? Why have you not given a little slack, but you will say, with God, I must be a watchman and stand for truth, and stand for integrity in his word. There cannot be any compromise. It is a time where many that you thought were for you will fall away. Be prepared for the lonely walk my child but know that I am with you. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth of those that lost their lives and chose the way of the world. But for those that are my true remnant there will be a time of doing great exploits. You may feel weak in this hour but know that my strength is made perfect in your weakness. Many times, I have allowed this weakness in your life so that you would totally depend upon my strength. So, listen more than ever and know that this is a time of great falling away of those that will not pay the price. But I know your heart and am confident that you will choose the right path, saith the Lord. I will be with you and just know that all you have to do is whisper my name and I am here. Now, wipe away the tears, and stand strong for in the very near future you shall see these things take place. Trust me my child and all will be well saith the Lord.

Today if according to your timetable God is running late in answering your prayers; He is still right on time. Just ask Lazurus and his family. (John 11) I’m telling you that God already has your situation and your prayer requests on His to do list. So trust Him to get it all done; Just in time and on time. We had a dear pastor friend that’s now passed away who used to say...”Sure I know God’s timing is always perfect and He is never late; Oh, but sometimes He sure can make you sweat”. Maybe you too are feeling that same way about now; But don’t you ever forget that our loving Father God is always faithful and He can see what you cannot see...And His timing is always right...Even if He is running a little late by your watch. So have a blessed day, keep on praying, keep on believing; And leave the driving and the timing in God’s hands…For our God is an on time, every time God. Just trust Him.

Are you really a child at heart?
I believe I have a friend like that.
Maybe my friend, because as children,
We both took that part, that child like faith,
That childlike wonder.
It is a gift to have childlike wonder.
Childlike wonder, you never lose.
Even though we travel different roads,
A lot of rocky terrain, we still keep and hold,
Childlike faith and wonder.
That is a gift, a gift of God.
Some children in the World, have no idea,
Of childlike wonder. Maybe they’re in war zones,
Holocaust children.
Think of those and pray for them.
Pray they will receive childlike wonder,
That only Jesus can give. He can give it to all ages
