Rurals Connect on Literacy in the Panhandle
NEFEC hosted a Summer Literacy Institute for the Panhandle Area Educational Consortium during the week of June 13-17. Educators came together at Marianna High School to collaborate on the use of complex text to engage students in all content areas. Text-dependent questions/tasks, foundational skills, BEST standards, significant sentences, and collaborative planning were the topics for the week. Teachers left the training with a toolkit of instructional routines, strategies, and protocols to support literacy.

Planting Seeds of Learning in Suwannee County
Parent night at Pineview Elementary School was a big success. All the FDLRS/NEFEC staff in the Lake City office were a part of the event and helped provide parents and their littles with learning opportunities. The learning stations included everything from making a visual schedule to comparing and contrasting plants! A special Thank you to Dee-Dee Cathcart, Suwannee County Parent Liaison, and Pineview Principal Amy Boggus for allowing us to be a part of their Stem-posium event.
