On June 11th, twenty educators from the NEFEC region joined colleagues from the Panhandle Area Educational Consortium in a virtual professional learning opportunity titled, Guidelines for Teaching the Holocaust. The session was facilitated by Kelsey Jagneaux from the Florida Holocaust Museum in Sarasota.
The museum strives to provide clarity and guidance for any educator teaching about the Holocaust in their own classes. These guidelines ensure the content is taught with respect and with resources that honor historical facts and survivor accounts.
Kelsey also shared the mission of the museum as well as many of the resources that educators can access for free. Students can now take virtual filed trips thanks to the docent program at the museum.
The second week in November has been deemed "Holocaust Education Week" to mark the anniversary of Kristallnacht.
