OUR IMPACT: COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTERS
Improving Health Outcomes in our Communities
As we celebrate Civic Health Month and National Health Center Week (NHCW) in August, we are proud to bring visibility to the critical work that takes place in our Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs).

National Health Center Week (NHCW) is an annual week-long celebration that highlights the contributions of health centers across the United States, such as the ones operated by Acacia Network and La Casa de Salud.

FQHCs are community-based health centers that provide access to comprehensive primary care and behavioral health services, serving more than 30 million people annually across the U.S. while reducing rates of chronic disease, stimulating local economies, and lowering health care costs to the tune of 24 billion dollars per year. FQHCs are uniquely positioned to serve their communities: not only are they part of the fabric of their neighborhoods, but their own staff and medical providers often belong to the very communities they serve. This is of utmost importance, as studies have shown that patients feel higher levels of trust when providers share their racial/ethnic background.

This year, NHCW will be celebrated from August 8 - August 14 under the overarching theme titled “The Chemistry for Strong Communities”. Every day of the week will be dedicated to a different focus area. OUR IMPACT: COVID-19 VACCINE OUTREACH
Follow Us on our Journey to Immunity
Acacia Network proudly presents Episode 1 of our Journey to Immunity vaccine education campaign, produced in partnership with Loisaida Inc. In this episode, our vaccine champion convinces a “tía” to learn more about the vaccine… all while meeting up with a group of young New Yorkers to shoot hoops in a local park!

The “Journey to Immunity” vaccine outreach campaign features a series of multi-lingual public service announcements (PSAs) that seeks to spread awareness about COVID-19 and promote vaccine uptake in hard-to-reach communities, while dispelling myths and misconceptions among those experiencing high rates of hesitancy, such as the Latinx/Hispanic community.

This episode of Acacia Network’s COVID-19 Vaccine Outreach Campaign is made possible with the support of the Hispanic Federation and the UnidosUS Esperanza Hope for All program, with funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Stay tuned... new episode coming soon!
