New! Clear­water’s Mercado the Next step in Downtown Gateway Re­vi­tal­ization


Clearwater residents had the chance to get a look at plans during a public meeting this week for a new park, known as the Mercado, planned for the corner of Cleveland Street and Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard.


“We’re very proud of it. This is a community-led project that started about a year ago, and it’s right there in the gateway leading straight into the downtown,” said Jesus Niño, executive director of Clearwater’s Redevelopment Agency.


“…by fall, it’s expected to be a place where people can come to relax, eat lunch or meet with friends.

New! Here are Some of the Big Projects Coming to Merritt Island


A number of new housing, medical, retail and restaurant developments are coming to Merritt Island, including:


Event and concert amphitheater: The Brevard Veterans Memorial Center and the Merritt Island Redevelopment Agency are working on developing a concert and events amphitheater at a site adjacent to the veterans center. That facility would have a capacity of up 5,000.

New! Earley’s Kitchen, Tallahassee Soul-Food Jewel on South Monroe, Reopens After Renovations


City commissioners, community leaders and chamber of commerce members gathered Friday morning to celebrate the reopening of Tallahassee south side landmark Earley’s Kitchen after a one-year closure.


The eatery stood the test of time, conquering the often-uphill battle unique to Black-owned businesses – operating for more than 44 years out of its location at 1458 S. Monroe St.


The southern-style restaurant closed February of last year to complete renovations to both its interior and exterior. The entire restaurant got a facelift with a new logo change (and more) with the help of a grant from the Community Redevelopment Agency.

Orlando City Council to Decide Fate of $500 Million Mixed-Use Sports Complex Plan


A proposed $500 million entertainment complex that could be built across the street from the Kia Center in downtown Orlando could get the green light from the Orlando City Council on Monday.


“What you would see in this project is over $500 million of new development in downtown Orlando. Specifically, in our Parramore area, so we’re really excited about that,” said David Barilla, executive director of the Orlando Downtown Development Board & Community Redevelopment Agency.

Visionaries Wanted to Merge Innovation and Art


The Fort Myers Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) invites creative minds from across the globe — visionaries, innovators, creators and futurists — to propose design concepts for engaging, transformational art installations to be built along the banks of the Caloosahatchee in downtown Fort Myers.


The goal of Innovation Walk is to marry innovation with art, transforming and populating a meandering, mile-long waterfront park pathway with enduring installations and experiences that intrigue curiosity and celebrate human innovation. In its call for creators, the CRA seeks talented innovators, designers and creators to develop meaningful, durable, and engaging installations that provide pedestrian viewers with experiences stimulating critical contemplation, curiosity and hope.

With Release of 10 Acres from Hungerford site, Eatonville Could Cause Florida Black History Museum


Ten acres of the former Hungerford School in Eatonville have been released from a lawsuit, paving the way for the land to be used for Florida’s first Black History Museum.


The town is in second place amongst all the candidates vying for the museum.


Shan Rose is Eatonville’s Community Redevelopment Agency Director. She said she’s also proud of the way everyone has united around the town’s bid for the museum. She said the township is excited to present on Friday their vision for the museum if it were to come to Eatonville.
