New! West Palm Beach Downtown Development Authority Names Teneka James-Feaman as Executive Director


The West Palm Beach Downtown Development Authority (DDA) Board of Directors has announced the appointment of Teneka James-Feaman to the position of Executive Director. James-Feaman succeeds Raphael Clemente, who is stepping down to pursue a new opportunity.


James-Feaman has been a dedicated member of the DDA staff since 2007 and has served as associate executive director since 2012. She brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the organization’s mission and operations.

New! Cape Coral CRA Building Grand Opening Set for 5/31


The City of Cape Coral will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Community Redevelopment Agency building’s grand opening at 9 a.m. on May 31. The CRA building is located at 1231 Lafayette St. A CRA is a special district established by local government pursuant to state law. CRA districts encourage public and private investments to promote economic growth and improve the quality of life in redevelopment areas. The main focus of the Cape Coral CRA is to enhance the South Cape and create a vibrant urban community.

New! Coral Springs Redevelopment Agency Approves Paying for Lease of New Museum Space in Cornerstone


The city’s redevelopment agency approved this week to pick up the annual lease expenses for the new art space in the Cornerstone development under construction.


The board of Coral Springs Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) agreed on Monday to spend $179,300 a year (with a 3 percent escalator each year) for the city’s Museum of Art to open a new roughly 8,100-square-foot space in the complex’s north building expected to be completed within the next two years at the corner of Sample Road and University Drive.


The museum will remain at 2855 Coral Springs Drive offering exhibits, programming, and classes, while the new space in Cornerstone will, too, have exhibits and programs in an area city officials expect to draw more people.

Florida Aquarium Approved for $15M in CRA Funding for Redevelopment Project


Tampa’s Community Redevelopment Agency approved $15 million in funding for a Florida Aquarium redevelopment project.

In three phases, expected to be completed by 2026, the aquarium will create four new exhibits, including a new penguin and sea lion exhibit, and the state’s only puffin exhibit. The redevelopment plan also includes improved amenities for guests. The entire project is expected to cost $45 million, of which the aquarium will cover $30 million

Rock the Plaza Heads to Ocean Plaza


The Boynton Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (BBCRA) will host the second activation for the highly anticipated Rock the Plaza concert series. The free, business promotional event will take place on Saturday, May 25th from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Ocean Plaza, located at 640 East Ocean Avenue. There will be limited parking available at the plaza, with additional parking located at 115 N. Federal Highway.


Rock the Plaza is a traveling concert series that showcases different plazas located within the BBCRA area, while spotlighting the thriving small business community. The activation will feature a live performance by the band Girlfriend Material, family friendly-activities, and special promotions from businesses located within Ocean Plaza. Event attendees are encouraged to stroll the plaza to visit the restaurants, eateries, retailers, and professional service providers located within the plaza.

Center for Arts Innovation Could Turn into Boca Raton's Cultural Hub


You may already know the famous Centre Pompidou in Paris, The Shard in London, or even The Whitney in New York. The renowned Italian architecture firm behind these storied structures — the Renzo Piano Building Workshop — has been tapped to design the future Center for Arts & Innovation in Boca Raton’s Mizner Park, part of a long-term effort to give Palm Beach County residents a “cultural hub.”


“Innovation is like beauty — you don’t just say someone is beautiful for their exterior, they’re also beautiful because of their mind,” architect Renzo Piano said in a statement. “The same sentiment will apply to The Center. It’s not about being a beautiful building; the beauty is in what will be created and invented inside the building.

GENERAL DUTIES:

Position manages the day-to-day operations, for the Boynton Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (BBCRA). The Executive Director is a highly responsible position that oversees a wide variety of redevelopment and economic development activities that include fiscal operations, policy making, capital project administration, BBCRA program management, redevelopment plan implementation, property acquisition, business incentives, new business development, business attraction and retention, special business promotion activities as well as the management and maintenance of BBCRA-owned properties. The Position serves as a liaison to businesses and property owners with the overall goal of enhancing the physical and economic character of the districts. Advanced professional work is focused on revitalization and community enhancement within the BBCRA Districts through redevelopment, capital improvement, and branding.

Main St. Interested parties who wish to be considered for this opportunity must submit a narrative proposal to the city no later than 5 p.m. Thursday, June 13.
